Agree. If they don't change the engine bay dimensions for the 4-bangers, perhaps we should stockpile a few new V-6's as replacements for the future.

Very sad if no V6.
The Highlander Hybrid engine has the same displacement as the Rav4 engine, but they are tuned to produce different horsepower. I also test drove the Highlander hybrid Platinum model and that was one of the reasons we ended up with this particular RX. The Highlander was a terrific vehicle, but the engine became really noisy on hilly highway onramps where it had to struggle to reach highway speeds. The power to weight ratio just didn't feel like a good balance. The RX didn't have such a struggle on the same onramp. If I understood that clip correctly though, he wasn't certain that the standard RX will have a 4 cylinder, only the hybrids. The standard Highlander still has the 3.5L six cylinder engine.

Saw the video before and it's on the Gen5 thread also.

Given the Highlander still had a V6, I would think there will be a V6. Other manufacturers still have V6 so far. I know Toyota dropped the V6 for the 4-cylinder engine and hybrid system for the Sienna though.

A 4 cylinder can be made to work satisfactorily. I am completely happy with the turbo 4 in my 2020 Mercedes GLE 350. If Lexus makes the move, I hope that they can match it because overall I prefer the 450h to the Mercedes. Also, if you think back (assuming that you are old enough) many of the comments in this thread sound much like the comments made when manufactures first started moving from V8's to 6 cylinders!

Big difference is the addition of turbos.
