Default Eliminate 2nd row seats RX350L

I own a 2020 RX350L. As with many owners, I dislike the non flat folding 2nd row. What I want to do it to remove them (or maybe just one) completely to give more room for allowing my dog to stand up in the back area. I took one of the seats out and the space is perfect. Unfortunately I get a SRS error and it says to take my car to the dealer for service. Does anyone know how (and where ) I can disable the sensor that is trowing this error or how to trick the system into thinking that the seat is present?

Many thanks in advance for you help.

When you removed the seats. Did you disconnect any wiring?

if you did. Remove the wire harness from the seat. Plug the harness back into the connectors. And secure the wiring.

It is not as simple as that anymore. Depending on the package you may have to disconnect the sensor that tell the A/C that no one is sitting there besides the air bags.

I have no idea is this is helpful but I also have a Mercedes Sprinter van. I have had to remove the seats to get at the electrical components under the seats. One time I reattached the seat but forgot to reconnect the wiring harness that was connected to the seatbelt warning system. This threw a computer code and error message that showed up on the dash. Reconnecting the wire would not remove the code error. The only way to remove the code was to clear it with a code reader. Luckily I had one that worked otherwise I would have had to take it back to the dealer to hook it up to their computer.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was no easy way to remove that seat and not cause computer problems.

Success! I took the advise and took the wiring off the seat (yellow cable for airbag, not the second/black one). It was difficult, but I was able to eventually get it all out; including the airbag in the seat. Plugged it in and started the car. Error code gone! Now I will find or make a box to secure and protect the airbag and make a platform to flatten the floor. I probably won't take out the second seat as it clearly would be a hassle to have to put it back in if I needed it. Wouldn't want to only put the seat(s) back in and not have the airbags in them. Dogs are happy..road trips ahead.

Actually, I have two dogs, but both of them together don't come close to the size of that cuddly fellow you have!

I was worried about needing the trip to the dealer, but got lucky.

Default Remove seats rx450

we are a retired couple who recently bought the rx450hl to drive up and down the east coast. The car is great but we would like to remove the center/second row of seats. no one will ever sit in them and it would make loading and unloading the car so much easier. Where would I find help or instructions rather than going to the dealer. Thank you in advance.

There is already a thread on here about removing them on a 350. It is dated 8/14/21.
