I agree…I’d wait for the market to “soften” if I can. My wife will only put up with me borrowing her car for so long. I sold my 2020 Acura MDX for a very fair price (to both parties) I think. When I bought it in January of 2021 I was able to get $7000 off MSRP, no add ons. I guess it was a different time 18 months ago. Acura MDX’s seem to be even more scarce now than RX’s. Of all the dealers I called on a new RX…one indicated that management would “negotiate “ on something that has been in stock for awhile…. 2 RXL…which I had no interest in. I’d be willing to travel, even fly somewhere and drive it back to S.C. If anyone knows of a dealer discounting in the $1500-$2000 range. I’m just not seeing it anywhere.

One portion of the link was for my trade... Which came out to $54xxx (ish)..Its worth more but you know how that goes. So when finished the guy says I can put down a $1000 non refundable deposit. I told him no problem..BTW the car I chose was Nebula Grey....The new car wont be at the dealer till Sept/Oct.... I understand that.BUT heres the deal...Since my car wont be worth the same amount in 2 months, he cant tell me a trade amt till the car gets here.. Im like...Im paying MSRP for your car and you wont give me the current market vause cause your car wont be here for 2 months? How is that my fault that your car wont be here? I mentioned that this might be a good opportunity to allow people a break on accessories, or I even mention that they buy my car night now then loan it to me as a service loaner.....or loan me any car....Thought and ideas please!!!!
For the trade portion of the deal, you can take what they offered you, add in any sales tax offset, and now you have a couple of months to try to get a few more thousand out of your trade. If you sell it early, rent a car - factor that cost in too.

Well UPDATE on the trade of my BMW X5.. I knew I would get insulted but didnt think quite this bad..They add. Nitrogen for $199( it already has it)..$299 for door edge guards(it has it already for $90...Tinted glass for $499.. Thats the thing Id consider...Admin charge is $699..So they come up with an MSRP of $65397...MY TRADE????$49k..It has 12k miles on it.....ANOTHER update.. As soon as I told him he was crazy... He asked me if I would take $54K that he looked at Autotrader like I asked him to and he agreed.....So we will see.
ANOTHER UPDATE.. They called back and they have offered me $54K which is what I asked for to begin with.,, Thats what I paid for it 2 yrs ago..

I found this site on dealer markups on pricing on Lexus. https://markups.org/search.html?title=lexus
Maybe it will help someone.

Good Luck.

Thinking about buying a L-certified 2021 RX450HL with 10k miles listed for 59k with premium package, vs new 2022. Haven't tried to negotiate yet, but hopefully I can get it down a few K. It's basically the same price as new, but they threw in the certification. Thoughts?

Here's my opinion.

For that $59K price, I would buy NEW instead of Used. Less risks if the price is around new. Risk vs reward (savings) leans to New. Full Warranty.

Buying new, you know the full history of the vehicle also.

it’s a no brainer, buy new. While it’s basically the same price as the new, it is worth far less. 10K miles on that vehicle immediately brings its value down at least $5K and eventually this market is going to soften more and then it’s going to drop even quicker.

Agree! Go New. Valuation is better!

the L certified limited warranty is useless for hybrids, unless I am reading it wrong, it excluded pretty much all the parts in the hybrid system, etc.

There was one poster recently that said he got a huge discount but no confirmation from anyone here. He did list the dealership but nobody has come back with follow up info. Would have been better is he had listed the exact salesperson because I personally doubt the authenticity of the claim. I think pretty much anyone here will agree that MSRP with no crazy adds like Nitrogen in the tires is a decent deal currently. We may see some give when the 23’s actually come out but not until 5hen IMO. I bought my 2019 when the 20’s were released and got $10K off but when I contacted my dealership recently they just laughed, not unkindly and said not in 5his market. I told 5hem to call me when 5hey are ready to deal again. I’m not holding my breath. Read an article just yesterday where they were talking about the chip shortage not easing until later next year and used vehicle pricing is not expected to drop drastically until new inventory is readily available.
