I personally toured the Ford F 150 plant in late Sept. in Dearborn, MI. The plant was vacant except for the tour guide and us tourists. What a place. It was so clean, you could eat off the floor. They told us there was no production because of a chip shortage. That's what they said.

Do you mean $43,000 plus your 2013 RX with 63k on it?

At this time you should be happy to pay MSRP, however if the car is already equipped with all the dealer installed add-ons like paint protection, paint films, and whatever else they can come up with, then you would be able to get a discount because of the huge amount of mark-up and profit there is in those dealer installed add-ons. There are still a lot of honorable dealers that don’t add that extra stuff unless you want it. And there are also a lot of dealers that are willing to sell without an additional mark-up above the MSRP (usually a couple of thousand dollars)

My dealer (Rohrich) in Pittsburgh also changed. There is no relationship. I bought the second Lexus ever sold in Pittsburgh, in 1989, from them, and many since. When I bought my 2017 RX, they had gone to the one-price/we don't negotiate thing. I bought the car, but was irked. So when I got my 2020RX, I went to Cleveland and saved $3000. I use Rohrich occasionally for rare warranty work. And I told them why I bought elsewhere. They said they'd match my next purchase (perhaps in 2023) and wouldn't lose me as a customer. But there is no one at the dealership who knows me and no one who knows or cares that I was once a "relationship customer". I accept that this is how the world is these days. Today's transaction is today's transaction. There is no relationship. But in markets like Pittsburgh where there is only 1 dealership (two dealers, but owned by the same company), the buyer needs to beware and shop outside their market. Right now new cars are in short supply, but that will change sooner or later.

I will not buy a i will match it price. I would buy it from the dealer that gave me that price. If you want the sale you better beat it price or i walk.

Generally I agree with that. But the out of town dealers are hours away. It’s convenient for me to deal locally. It’s a love/hate relationship.

Default Lexus Not Allowing Special Orders for the RX?

Greetings all!

I would like to order an RX with the Luxury package---MSRP about 53 or 54, I think,

Two dealers in the area (North Texas) have told us that Lexus is not allowing special orders for an RX at this time.

Can anyone confirm this? Any idea how long this ban on special orders might last. Any way around this?

My dealer in Oregon said something similar when I tried to make a special order with the build your own Lexus website, they didn't mention how long it would last though. Side note, how are you getting a luxury package RX for ~$54? All the ones I've seen are at least $63k although I guess those are usually the most spec'd out models

Thanks for the feedback. Let me know if you hear how long this boycott on special orders will last. :-)

Here is an RX with the luxury package for $53,275 as built on the website. Is there any reason why this couldn't be ordered once special orders resume?

lexus usually only builds the luxury pack cars with Navi levinson, pano roof. Pano view, triple beam headlights, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats. Wireless phone charger, and power rear door. Otherwise you’d have to send it in and lexus currently is not accepting orders.
