The current gen RX has indeed aged well even after SEVEN model years. It still looks great despite the fact that there's so many on the road.

Totally agree with you on that one. Waiting for my 2022 450h to arrive but still wondering what that refresh is going to look like. I was hoping some sneak peeks were going to show up, lol.

Just look at the NX and you'll get your first clues. Light bar across the rear, "LEXUS" name across the rear, etc.

Hard to tell from the NX which really didn't change much at all other than the interior and the letters across the hatch. I expect the next gen RX will have some more dramatic changes but who knows.

We bought a 2020 RX 350 for my wife 13 months ago. Then in January, I bought a 2021 RX 450h. Both are "base" models. Total cost of the two - all in - was under $95K. Very happy with both.

True but I'm more interested in the overall look, especially the drivetrain...do not want a 4 banger.

Before i purchased Rx in 2020 i had 2 (TWO) X5 leased back to back. On both of them, I went way over allowed mileage, driving 42 and 54 k respectively. 2015 X5 was it shop ones for some sound in the starting column, ( fixed under warranty), and 2017 X5 never had to go to dealer besides regular, scheduled FREE maintenance. 6 years of driving X5s resulted in ZERO maintenance costs. RX was in the shop 3 times since I bought it for rattles plus the dealer charges $$$ for scheduled maintenance after the first 10k of driving.
I own RX, I made myself to like it ( otherwise it is a misery to drive a car you don't like every day), but, IMHO X5 is twice of a car compared to RX.

Statistically there is zero chance a BMW is more reliable than a Lexus. Your experience was merely an anomaly.

Just curious...If you had such great experiences with the X5, why did you switch to the RX?

Long story. It was in the middle of COVID. Leasing was not an option anymore. Paying $15-20 thousands more for X5 was not prudent. I was not to sure what is ahead so i needed something reliable. Reliability of Lexus is out of the question. So, there you go! I bought Rx ))

Wife had 2010 328xdrive for 10 years. 2 ignition coils went bad ( at the time when second got bad I replaced them all), and fuel pump went bad in 2019. Go figure)

I don’t think one can explain it. I’ll tell you this. Every single time when you drive BMW it makes you smile))
Let’s enjoy what we have!

Just curious. Since your 2017 X5 had ZERO problems over 54,000 miles, why didn't you buy it at lease end? Since you wouldn't have to pay for those extra miles you put on it, I'm guessing that would have cost you less than a new RX.

X5 at that time had a pretty high overhead. It was fully loaded. Plus extra mileage. It was way cheaper to get out of that lease and get a available 530 series. There were couple of extra key factors in making a decision at the time but I think that should quite satisfy your curiosity)) lol)
