So why did they add the feature to the app as opposed to updating the firmware in the vehicle that reminds you to check the back seat when you turn the vehicle off???
Because the app allows you to lock all doors *remotely*. In other words, unlike an internal car notification from the firmware, you wouldn't be able to see a child or pet in the back seat if you are remote. You can turn off the notification if it bothers you.

Using your Lexus app touch the "account" icon. Bottom right of first screen.

Select NOTIFICATION SETTINGS
On the notification settings find "Rear Seat Reminder".
Turn off Push Notification.

PS I couldn't find the button for a while either.

My point was that the message just started showing up. It does not bother me. I was trying to offer a solution.

To those of us without kids or pets, yes it's annoying. It should have a setting to turn it off.

it’s reminding you that if you are unsure, go out and look.

I disagree. Because we all know there will be people who DO have kids or pets that will still turn it off. It's really not that big a deal.

If you are reminded while using the app remotely and you don't know that you are locking your young child or pet in the car. Well then I hope a cop or someone rescues them before something worse happens to them.

1. A baby could fit there.
2. You can turn off that particular message in the app.

Default Need a better message

The message is too terse. At least tell us what to check for.

"Message to driver: you left a bottle of water in the back seat. It is a 12oz Poland Spring. It is half empty. The cap is on tight. Please remove bottle before driving, or drive to the nearest Lexus dealer to have them resolve the situation."

How's that?
