Default Cracked headlights

Opened the hood after washing the LEXUS today to find cracks on both headlights at the exact location; upper aft underneath the hood. Plastic trim cover is lifted in photo. Thought I was seeing things but I can definitely catch a finger nail. Searched the forums for any others with this issue but came up empty. 2022 RX350, 2000 miles. Front of both headlights are perfect so nothing struck them. Anyone else have this happen?

Are the "cracks" identical to one another? Many headlights/lenses have molding indents, dimples etc. And some have lines where pieces are joined together.

Can't say that I've seen this before. You are taking it back to the dealer, right?

Thought molded seam at first but it’s not consistant. Crack runs about 8 inches. 4 inches I can catch a fingernail on, the other 4 I cant. Bright light used in photo seems to show separation. Off to the dealer on Wednesday

I'm having a hard time seeing the cracks from your photos. Keep us posted regarding what the service department does about them.

Tough to photograph. Drivers side followed by passenger side.

Thought so at first, except it continues under the top surface almost all the way to the edge.

You were correct! It's actually a lip of the molding and not a crack. Compared another RX with same LED headlights and its molding had an exposed lip but it went completely around that piece of plastic not just 4". Mine was polished smooth except for the tail end.

Glad to hear, and thank you for reporting back. I am a water treatment engineer by trade and have had several injection molding accounts over 27 years and while my main priority is focusing on the water treatment/cooling aspect of the machinery, I am very curious in the final products. Often the mold release agents vary in consistency, so seams may vary greatly in the smoothness/ridges on the outside or exterior; however, it is what is inside that matters most. If you ever have condensation within the headlight unit, that is the time to be concerned.

The best thing about the majority of the automotive parts/products produced in Japan, are the tight tolerances. Full disclosure, I am not a fan of any specific manufacturer, but I am a firm believer that overall, Toyota/Lexus make some of the best vehicles (regardless of price) on the market today. I own a 2013 Ram Hemi 4x4 and a 2007 LS460 L and my two daughters have an IS200t and an IS300t. Furthermore, my Mom (will be 80 this year) has a 2007 ES350 with only about 36k miles, and my sister has a 2017 LX460 with about 90k miles.
