Default Will a 10 foot board fit?

Specifically, a 2”x8” by 10’…standard 2021 RX350. I would think it would, I fit them in my Camry (through the trunk and through the back-seat pass-through). Thanks in advance.

Well, maybe, if you don't mind the board laying on the dash or the dash display. I put a tape in my 2020 with the passthrough down. 10' is only possible with the board laying on the dash. Lowes/Home Depot/Menards will rent you a truck for $20 with 75 minutes of time.

Tape end is touching the dash near the Lexus clock.

Tape is touching the windshield, resting on the 12.3" display

Actually, to answer my own question, on mine it will fit without laying it on the dash. I remembered I had a 10’ 2x4 in the garage so I could try it. Here’s how, on mine at least: lay the driver’s side rear seat down, and then lay the center rear console down. Leave the passenger side rear seat up. Now lower the front passenger seat back. The 10’ board fit with one end in the passenger foot well and the other end up in the air, close to the rear window, but with room to spare. Using an old sheet to save the leather from getting scratched.

I do have a full-size pickup truck but it’s a lot easier to drive the car around town, so I use it rather than the truck if possible.

I use my Rx350 to haul lumber (and everything else). I just put a blanket on the center console or on the dash and can haul 8-10' boards without any problems or scratches. The 12 footers will even fit if you hang one end out the passenger window (again with some good cushioning) for the short distances I would haul them. That is why they call them "utility vehicles." I do draw a line at hauling mattresses on the roof.

After all this, you have a pickup at home? Really?

Carrying a 10' 2x4 and getting into a crash could be pretty bad for you. The air bags would be mostly useless. You might even make the National news. Use the pickup truck.

I’ve carried ten foot pieces of conduit. I suggest you wrap a towel around the end and lay it in the dash. Otherwise it’s flopping around a lot when you are driving.

why? It will be between the front seats and will be heading for the windshield in front collisions. Side impacts will be held in check by the seat backs. I’ve done it many, many times in a variety of vehicles.

You could make that argument for anything in the back that wasn't tied down - suitcases, bikes, tools, etc.. It is probably best to buy a vehicle with storage capacity to haul stuff but then not use any of it for safety reasons just in case of an accident. Better yet, just stay home where it is safe.

Comparing a large peace of lumber with suitcases and the like is funny at best. You might get the Darwin award some day.

When in doubt, just spend 20 bucks or so and rent a pickup from HD or Lowes.

You have not addressed my post on the subject. Where do you think a ten foot 2x4 is going to go that is well below the level of the top of the backrests? I’m sure we can dream up a scenario, but I think the odds are a lot higher that something else will be your demise in an accident.

Roof rack! Or leave the Hatch partially open and attach a flag to the wood. It is legal as long as it is secured. You can secure it to the tire down hooks.
