FWIW, back in 2012 my 2008 RX got rear ended at a light by a guy doing about 45. He pushed me into the guy in front of me. He went under my car and ripped out his engine and bent my frame. The car was worth $ 24,000, but Farmer's wouldn't total it. Instead, they paid $ 26,000 to the body shop to basically rebuild my car. Not a WORD was on the Carfax report a year later.
Wow, better than buying a new car if you don't mind keeping it with that extensive repair. Or you can trade it in with a clean Carfax.
I've heard at times accidents fail to get reported, but surprised about your case with such a high cost repair.
Probably due to some idiotic corporate measurement to have a maximum of "x" number of vehicles totaled per month. If you as the adjuster go over this limit you get penalized.
