Totaled my Lexus today

Unless there is other underlying damage this doesn't look too bad. New full bumper and hood.

 

How do you know thats it’s totaled? I’ve seen a lot worse get repaired.

 

it’s not as bad I thought. Waiting for insurance estimate.

how much would you guess ballpark?
front bumper , grill , chrome all damaged. Sensors also start beeping randomly.

 

$9500-11000.

 

Did the airbags go off?

 

Doesn’t look too bad but who knows what’s underneath the cosmetic stuff.

Based on the photo I would find it hard to believe your insurance company would consider your RX totaled. Keep us posted. Best wishes.

 

I know if I was cool I'd know the year and trim of your car by the picture; but it's too late for me, save yourselves.

 

i totally thought you just took a smudge tool to the photo. What a strange looking accident. did you nose dive lightly into the guy in front?

Hopefully no injuries.
It will make a difference to the insurance folks if the air-bags deployed.
If not, probably not totaled and will be reported to Carfax.

 

FWIW, back in 2012 my 2008 RX got rear ended at a light by a guy doing about 45. He pushed me into the guy in front of me. He went under my car and ripped out his engine and bent my frame. The car was worth $ 24,000, but Farmer's wouldn't total it. Instead, they paid $ 26,000 to the body shop to basically rebuild my car. Not a WORD was on the Carfax report a year later.

 

Wow, better than buying a new car if you don't mind keeping it with that extensive repair. Or you can trade it in with a clean Carfax.
I've heard at times accidents fail to get reported, but surprised about your case with such a high cost repair.

 

Probably due to some idiotic corporate measurement to have a maximum of "x" number of vehicles totaled per month. If you as the adjuster go over this limit you get penalized.
