Default 17 f sport or get something newer?

so we sold out 2013 rx 350 to a local dealer here and thought i might bump up to a newer model.
the 13 was nice, black w saddle tan leather and most options, 19" wheels.
took a $2000 hit for the 4 years we owned it which i guess is not too bad. should of done it sooner when the car prices were crazy and might of got more than what we paid for it.
anyway we drove it a total of 9000 miles in 4 years. i have a company ram 4 wheel drive and my wife has an 11 infinti g37 retractable hardtop she loves so we hardly ever drove it.
bought it for the grandkids which we are still waiting for.
anyway, i found a 2017 rx350 fsport. it's caviar w the red interior.
fair price but has 121k miles which is more than i wanted but clean carfax with good maintenance record.
this it's a level 3 as it has all options - hud, pano sunroof, pano mirror, ml radio, awd.
cant get the sticker, but figured $65k or just under.
not as worried about the miles as if we drive it the same in a couple of years it will go from a high mileage to low, but would feel better if it had 15-20k less.
read the articles about the seat bolsters being so uncomfortable so i drove a 21 local f sport and though not as comfy as i like, but i think i could live with it.
i'm just over 6' and fat boy at around 250 but swear to loose some after the first of the year.
this car is in Huston area. i live in central Mississippi and the car market here sucks so we usually go out of town. i bought the 13 in Dallas and the es350 in Missouri.
i do see another f sport in dallas in atomic silver/red w only 86k. don't like the color as much w the red and no awd, hud and pano mirror (not deal breaker, but i do like the pano mirror and awd might come in handy if it's not something else to go wrong later.
also a 17 base model in the blue/nobel brown (i do like the brown interior) with only 69k miles. both have 20" wheels although the base just has the 12.3 base radio (no ml - which i see from posts may not be worth it anyway) and less other options.
after this long winded background, I'm wondering what yall think?
any thoughts or suggestions?
should i be leery of all the options as something that could just go wrong down the road?
as little as i drive it, do i even need another car?
should i put more money in and get something newer than a 17?
will i start to hate the seats after a long ride - seem strange to have to bring a cushion along.
would the base model be more comfortable overall without any of the sports equipment?
or should i just keep looking for that 65 Bonneville convertible and forget about another family car, (i already have a 69 camaro and my son killed the 68 cutlass convertible i bought him several years ago)
these are some of the questions i ask myself .
guess you you don't have anything better to do at Christmas, please reply.

How are we supposed to know what's best for you and your family? Only you know your wants, needs and what you can afford. Having said that, buy the newest, lowest mileage RX that you can afford. Merry Christmas!

That RX in 17 was less than 65k. Good luck making your decision.

I would bank the funds and wait to get a 2020. It has the newer tech and the Enform system works as the older years have the inoperable discontinued telematics. Just my 2 cents. Merry Christmas.

Buy a 2020 or later (not 2023) RX450h (non F Sport). Lots of talk on this site about the uncomfortable seats in the "F" sport. I had a 2020 RX450h "F" Sport and traded it in for a 2022 RX450h non F Sport. I like the 2022 non F Sport a lot better, love the "hybrid". 2022 is the last year for the 6 cyl engine in the RX.

Do not buy a 2017 if you can, it is very outdated at this point definitely try for 2020 or later. I currently own a 2017 and I can’t even remote start it with remote. I believe, but I’m not sure but I believe that with 2020 also added Apple CarPlay.

I am in total agreement with Rarebird.

I traded-in my 2017 F-Sport for a 2022 F-Sport because the 2017 was outdated. I wanted the touchscreen, CarPlay, and the ability to use all aspects of the Lexus app.

That, and I wanted to get the last of the V6 driven RXs before Lexus moved to the 4-cylinder turbo.

Get the high mileage f-sport with all the options at the fair price. In 4 years you will have 130,000 miles on a car that will easily go 200,000 miles. You're in Mississippi and certainly don't need remote start. Only driving about 1 hour per week you could do that on a park bench, so unless the seat is painful it shouldn't matter. Go for style just like your other cars and you'll be happier with your decision.

For what its worth, with your frame size those FSport seats will nag you through ownership before mechanical issues.
I know you're just feeling out opinions here, and it's easy to suggest to spend someone else money but your best bet is a 2020 non-FSport.

these are the numbers i came up with for the msrp.
might be missing something but i think it has everything but cold weather and towing package.
$50,520 - F Sport 4dr All-wheel Drive

$3,200 - 12.3" Navigation System w/Mark Levinson Audio

$1,865 - Panoramic View Monitor w/Blind Spot Monitor

$1,615 – LED headlights

$1,600 - Panoramic Moon Roof

$635 – Lexus Safety System

$600 – color head-up display

$600 - heated and cooled front seats

$299 - Accessory Package

$200 - touch free power rear door

$995 - destination charge.

____

$62,129

i drove out to Houston to see it. i had made up my mind if i didn't really fall in love with it, i was going to leave it there as i agree i'm not exactly buying a newer used car with a '17 at 121k miles.
But it looked almost brand new. almost no dings, no road rash on the wheels and the interior was almost new. no way this thing looked like it had that many miles on it, so i took it.
have to agree w Nail34 on this one
anyway i figured i could keep it 3 years and it would be low mileage with the amount we will probably put on it. if i still want another lexus, i might check into a '22 450 as suggested.
so we left at 5 am in the 4x4 ram, got to Houston about 12:30.
buddy that went with me had never been to a Buc-ees so we had to stop. he got a $14 brisket sandwich (no drink or chips). Buc-ees is a destination and nothing is ever cheap. if you have never been, image the walmart of gas stations with a 100 pumps outside.
they built one at the orange beach exit at gulf shores AL and more people stop there then go to the beach.

left the dealership at about 3:00 and got home at 12:30. seats are not the most comfortable but i can live with it.
car said i was getting 21.5 mpg, but google and gas put it i came up with 24.75 to baton rouge. from there home, i set the cruise on 80 mph, car said 21 mpg, i figured 23.5 with google maps miles and gallons i bought.
tires were set to 39-36 psi. lower them all to 34 now. it has some Sailun Terramax HLT 235/55R20 102H (cheaper? $167/each Chinese tire) in almost new shape. son is in it at Continental tire plant w a discount, but those Sailuns don't look too bad
https://simpletire.com/brands/sailun...0&userRegion=4
and i'll wait till they get some more wear on them

so i paid $28,495 which seemed like not a bad deal. most the other 17's close to it with less options and less miles were $30k up to $35.
looks like the base 20's start at $40k plus and most of them on the lower end had damage reported in the carfax.
i got $15000 for the 13 rx we had after paying $17 and driving 4 years so I'm out about $15k by the time i pay taxes and everything else.
have to say the dealer was very pleasant to work with. seemed like it pulled just a bit when driving so they did a 4 wheel alignment while we did the paperwork. really easy. it's from an autonation dealer so i get a 3 month - 4,00 mile warranty but the closest dealership is 2.5 hours away. can do it local for a $100 fee.

all in all a pleasant experience as long as it holds up.
wife seems to like it too and says it drove best of the half dozen we drive locally here before going including a 2021 f sport w 8,000 miles.
she likes the caviar color and the red interior seems to be growing on her.

Good luck with it. Our 17 now feels even newer with only 75k on the clock😁 So far, this is the most reliable car we've ever owned. Oil, filter changes, brakes and tires and that's been it. Never back to the dealer really for any warranty work.

AAAHHHH HAAAAHHH!!! You're the one who stole it... lol. I been shopping around also and when I called it was gone!.. IMO great price.. I'm trying to grab one here soon also, I found one near me but had a lot of funky carfax alerts.. I still went to see it but someone apparently picked it up. I really want a White one but Caviar is my 2nd choice and all the options you got are sweet also.

Nice find!
