Middle Vent Not Blowing
We have a 2016 RX350. The middle vent has quit working. Any troubleshooting suggestions?

When the HVAC is set to "Auto" the modes are selected with the ambient temperature and
inside temperature settings calculated. Cold outside - floor heat, Hot day - Dash vents.
To analyze this condition find the "Mode" button (next to small & large Fan icon buttons).
Visual help if you press the center console Menu button and then select Climate. You will be
able to see where the system intends to direct the flow. Each press of the Mode button will
cycle from Dash only to Dash + Floor to Defrost + Floor.
Each Dash vent has a roller you can move to deliberately block some or all of the flow. I trust you
have cycled these controls in the effort to restore the center vent flow. Now try tapping the HVAC
Mode button and watch the on screen Climate graphic. If you have plenty of air flow to other vents
and still none when the screen shows it ought to be there you would seem to have a broken damper
door actuator. Wait 5 or more seconds between Mode button taps, you should be hearing soft thumps
and whooshes as the dampers toggle open and closed. No sound at all would also indicate a broken
actuator.
