I actually prefer to not have it. Knock on wood I have had no issues with damage without one.
I find that they can be a pain when working on my car. My wife has a 4Runner, and removing the skid plate is a royal pain in the a$$. The clips almost always break and the bolts are sometimes difficult to line up. Maybe if I had a lift. On her vehicle they have a hatch door for the oil pan drain pan, but not for the filter, so I have to take the skid plate off anyway.
So I guess it depends on how far back it goes and what it covers up.

Usually Luxury vehicles are covered up. I just find it odd they did it on Toyota models but not on this Lexus.

yeah, it is kinda strange.
I find the RX to be amazingly quiet (but I drive mostly highway). The first time I blew the horn I was amazed that I could barely hear it.

Good riddance to those panels. On my older Rx, I had to order new clips when they eventually broke and also had several of the screws break off after they rusted making them non-functional. I was thrilled when I saw that my new Rx didn’t have that panel.

I completely agree that it should not be on the Lexus. I think it is safe to say that Lexus owners don't go off road or aim for mud puddles. . VWs Audi Mercedes and BMW;s that have them are a PIA to get to the drain plug.. If the oil filter is on top of the engine the dealers vacuum the oil out the dipstick and not remove the panels. Independent garages install a Large body plug in the area of the drain plug and drain the old fashioned way. Also cars that are lower to the ground get an improvement in aerodynamics. Not so much with a high SUV..
