I am looking to buy a used Lexus RX 350 or 450 in the 75-120k miles range.
1. Based on your experience, what are typical issues Rx sees at or during these miles range?
2. Assuming it is low maintenance Suv?
3. While inspecting the Suv with this much mileage, what are the main things I should look at?

I currently have a 2017 RX450h with 80,000 miles. Have not had one problem. Register free on the Lexus owners site. Enter VIN number and it will show all service work done at a Lexus or Toyota dealership. If no problems identified and oil changed every 10,000 miles and brake fluid every 30,000 miles I would feel very comfortable with the purchase mechanical wise. The RX year after year is ranked by J D Power as the most dependable mid size luxury SUV. The 2023 J D Power dependability study was just released. This looks at 2020 vehicles and the RX was the most dependable of all vehicles they surveyed and Lexus #1 again.

2017 RX350 here purchased new - 75K on the clock now. Oil changes, filters, brakes and a set of tires. That's been it so far. Not a single trip back to the dealer for any warranty work.

For what it is worth, my last Rx started requiring some extra repairs at around 140-150,000 miles (coolant leaks, water pump, brake calipers, etc.). I also started having some paint and rust issues at that point. I don't drive a lot every year so at that mileage my car was 10 years old. I think the age of the car is sometimes more of a factor than the mileage. I wouldn't be surprised if the next owner got another 100,000 miles on the car but probably would have had increased expenses doing it. For me, I don't need the hassle, irritation and wasted time of a car that doesn't have the highest possible reliability so that is when I buy a new one. If I were buying a used car with higher mileage, I would probably pay a mechanic to go over the car with a fine tooth comb so at least I knew that I had protected myself as best as possible. I would definitely do the research to make sure the car had not been in any accidents. There are also 350,000 flood cars that were damaged in the Florida hurricane last year that end up in the used market. I would make sure I didn't end up with a flood car.
