Steering wheel cup holder MIA?…
What a question to ask at this point, but I just noticed that…
It seems like the cup holder which was located right next to the steering wheel, gone MIA in the new 4RX?…
If so, it will be sorely missed Hope I'm missing a place they might have relocated it to… Duh

No, I don't play soccer!
Actually I find that cupholder useful to chill a bottle of water with the AC blasting on it. But It's an awkward place to keep a drink for me, maybe less so for someone who is left handed. From the interior pictures I've seen of the 4RX, the vent now takes up that space. And it looks larger too. Probably has to do with the flow of the dash.

For me it was a nice option, even though a bit awkwardly placed against the vent. And as kitlz mentioned, bottle chilling side-functionality was quite useful.
With center panel opening gone on driver's side, and this extra cup holder gone, and the pretty useless "iPhone 5-but not iPhone 6-sized devices" holder (though we know reasons, but it's clearly a lack of vision)… I… just don't know. Japanese car makers were always pretty creative with interior space usage, but we're going backwards in this particular model, no matter what reasons are.
Oh well

I didn't even know it was called a cup holder. I had no idea what it was for and never used it. It's an awkward location for me being right handed. It won't be missed by me.
What I would have liked to see is the shelf built into the dash on passenger side like the Highlander has.

We really like the cup holder there on the left and will miss it no doubt. I use it all the time.

Funny you mentioned that as I've also perused the supplied photos looking for it. As Anita said the cool air will keep water somewhat cool and in the winter could keep my sealed coffee cup warm. On almost every trip, I think I used it.

Always thought it was useless.

the cupholder was a great feature for the reasons mentioned also it allows us to hold a third cup when the two main ones are being used (think small kid in the backseat).I'm rigtht handed but used it all the time. Also it was a unique feature too i think...oh well...hopefully some other cool feature replaces it....

I have to agree. I use the cupholder next to the steering wheel almost every day. It's convenient and helps when I have other things stored in the middle cupholders. All said and done though I'm sure I won't miss it in the new one. It's something I'll get used to not having.
