I'm not going to be able to speak for the 2022 X5 since I have not driven one. I last looked at the X5 in 2019 and opted for the 2020 Mercedes GLE350; a much better fit for me. My wife had a 2017 RX-450h and every time she was in my Mercedes she would comment how much nicer the ride was in the Lexus!!! Well, last night we brought home a 2022 RX-450h and we both feel that the ride is even nicer. Having said that, we were not looking for a "spirited" ride, but a more comfortable ride for travelling. We also like the "edgier" design of the Lexus. I have never had a single issue with any of the 4 RX's that I have owned. I can only say that there are a lot of former X5 owners over on the Mercedes boards. Whatever you decide to get, enjoy it!!! The buying experience now is certainly different than pre-COVID!!!!!

The article needs to update the highest cost of the RX. It's not a high of $51k...it's actually $64k loaded for a 450h Sport. I really enjoyed my 2016 450h F Sport ($62k back then so hasn't gone up much) but I found the vehicle extremely boring to drive. Yes, it was reliable as nothing ever goes wrong with these things...rarely. I upped for a loaded X7 and though it's a lot larger than the RX, it is so much more fun and enjoyable to drive. Like not even close. I did definitely get the extended warranty though.

How much is a fully loaded X7 and how much was the extended warranty, just curious.
My X5 was much more fun to drive until the engine and the tranny seized at 57K miles.

per google and cars usnews
"The 2022 BMW X7 is one of the lower-priced SUVs in the class, with a starting MSRP of $74,900. As you move up the trim ladder, costs are in line with many class rivals. The midrange X7 M50i starts at $99,800, while the high-performance Alpina XB7 starts at $141,300."

At $105K I could have bought two of my 2020 RX350s and paid for a year's worth of fuel for both of them.

Let alone what you'd save on maintenance.

Yes, but I’m also not driving a vehicle that it seems everyone has. Just way more to it size wise, tech wise, and waaay more fun to drive.

Nice, bet it rides & handles well too. Congratz!
I test drove a 2017 x5 before purchasing my first RX back in 2016.
BMW wouldn't negotiate on the price which I was glad considering their starting $ point
It would have been more of a want vs the need to invest that much in payments. My wife enjoys her RX to the point that we're on our second.

As for an comparison I believe the price difference will answer that.

Enjoy...

Obviously you can afford it, I think you made a great decision, I'm envious.
I'm just thinkin' the $9,000 sales tax would go a long way to pay for my business class flight to Italy for my wife and me and a two week stay. LOL,LOL

Agree. Sales tax always sucks.

It's all so subjective. Where I am, I have limited choices. There's Lexus, Benz, BMW, Acura & all the domestics which aren't in the running. Personally I really like the RX's aggressive look. I feel the others look a bit dated and I really don't like the new grills on the beamers. My wife had a 325xi and it was in the shop so much we finally got rid of it.
