Just placed deposit for an incoming RX350h. Interestingly there is Dash Cam built with it with $350 charge. I guess it is new here.

Is that a port installed option or a dealer add on? If it's the Lexus integrated one then that's a good price.

Per dealer "The vehicle your inquiring is being built today and should be here in about 2 to 3 weeks" It doesn't have window sticker out yet, but the package options were listed on dealer's website. I assumed it should be installed in the Canada manufacture.

First the Minuses and not all of these are true misuses but just limitations that you have to decide if you are ok with
1. Price I paid $ 267.75 for the camera PT949-76200, Originally parts guy said $382.00, I saw on a web site a retail price of $315.00 so I was happy with that. Wire harness PT949-48210 $34.00
Total hardware: $301.75 Labor $180.00 orig $234.00 but told them I was quoted $180.00 so they reduced it. Overall I'm ok with what I paid
Total price for hardware and labor including tax: $499.86
2. Resolution is only 4080P not 4k It produces a clear wide picture, just can't read fine detail like a license plate clearly.
3. only front camera, no rear facing image.
4. phone app ok but easier to view in computer with micro SD card use app for settings, then go to computer.
Pluses:
1.Looks great in car, no wires, very clean installation.
2. Lexus quality, looks like it will last.
3.Lexus warranty 12 months if installed by dealer.
4.Easy to use.
I just had one installed on my 2023 RX 350h. Much to my surprise and disappointment, they mounted it on the passenger side of the mirror. When I questioned the placement, they told me that was the proper location for my vehicle and that the PT949-48210 wire harness wouldn't reach if mounted on the driver side.

jahnjva, on which side did they mount your dashcam? Please post a picture.

I thought it should be on driver side according to this page.

The first photo shows the dash cam installed on the right side. I also thought it would be on the left since I saw a photo from Lexus with it on the left. The second photo is a poor quality shot of my computer screen. Getting past the poor quality you can see it has a decently wide angle. I don't think it made any difference putting on on the right side vs the left and I think you will be happy with the videos it produces.

My dealer just ordered my Lexus dash cam. $600 including install. Said he would let me know when it arrived and schedule in the am so I can get that 3 egg ham and cheese omelet with fresh biscuits. They have a great cafe in the service waiting area.

@ggebhardt ...let us know which side the camera is installed on. As you can read by several posts above some people are making comments that the camera is installed to the right of the mirror and not on the driver side which is more convenient. Having more folks speak about where the camera was installed would help those like myself who are considering having one. It sure seems that having it to the left of the mirror closer to the driver would be beneficial.

Will do! I will insist it be on the drivers side. I have looked and there is plenty of room and would not accept it being on the passenger side.

I hope you guys can answer a few questions for me. 1. Do these dash cameras run all the time? 2. Do they come on automatically, or do you have to turn them on when you want to record? 3. Do they have motion detectors and come on when the car is off and parked? 4. If they record all the time, do they send the video to the cloud or store it on a disk and record over itself after a certain amount of time?
Thanks

It may not be an option on what side to install as Lexus said in the above post that it won't reach if installed on the left. Once the camera is initially set up there is nothing to do. It turns on and off automatically. It's easier to review the recording by popping the removable micro SD card into a computer. The phone app is more cumbersome.
