Default How to lock car from hatch buttons

New Rx 350 luxury owner and I guess our salesperson wasn’t that great in showing us stuff because it was all new, well some stuff. We have 2 buttons on the hatch, they say one is supposed to lock the car but either it is not working or we are doing it incorrectly? Anyone know the steps to hav3 it lock the car?

thank you

I'm not taking ownership of new RX350 Luxury for my wife for another est 30 days, so can't answer that question. But as fyi... every Lexus Dealer will have a few ( generally young adults ) as Technology pros. They are trained to know the vehicle inside n out and can assist w all questions on features, operations etc.. The best time to go visit them is after you've had the vehicle for week or two. Very helpful the couple times I've used them in the past.
Congrats on new vehicle!

Press the button and then walk away. You will hear it beep. Then it will close and all doors will lock. No idea why you have to walk away with the locking button but not with the other button.

I had to go to the owners manual to figure this out.

Also note that it will probably not lock if you don’t have the key on you. Just like the doors won’t lock if you don’t have the key.

The button on the left will close the hatch. The button on the right will close the hatch and lock all of the doors. If it doesn't work, you need to be sure all the doors are closed and you're not too close. Or press it again.

Hubby finally figured it out! He was too close so it didn’t lock? Weird but know to be on side or really step back after pushing the button🙄

Yes you need to walk away. If it is closing and you come back to hatch it will stop closing and stay half open. If this happens just press the button again and will reopen.

You can actually change this behavior in the car settings. But yes I was initially confused too.

I am not having any luck with that button. Fob in pocket, not standing under the rear hatch, no other doors open. It just does not work. Will have dealer check it out.
The "non locking" button on the left works fine.

Is it possible your phone is in the car when you are trying this? If so, and you have downloaded the digital key, this could be the problem?

Does the new RX350 offer automatically locking of doors when you walk away. I pick my RX350h Luxury today!

No it does not. Wish it did. You can, however, just touch the front part of the outside door handle to lock the car before you walk away. Or use the fob.
