Sorry - posted before I finished. I updated. I put the numbers into a table but I'm having trouble uploading the image.

Here are the IIHS test numbers. I force-ranked each test. From 1-4, it's green/yellow/red/gray.

Those number make the bi look better than the triple. I went from a 2018 RX with bi level to the 23 with triple and it is much brighter especially with the brights on.

That's what I'm seeing too. It also looks to me that any 5G headlight will outperform any prior generation headlight. I guess I'm asking whether there's more to the story than the numbers.

Odd they didn't put side adaptive beams on the triple beam. That would have made them outperform the bi-levels most of the time. Even my 7 year old VW has side adaptive headlights.

AFAIK these upgraded lights are only available as part of an expensive package.

For the US they are optional for the premium+, luxury, and F sport trims. Canada doesn't have the option equipment availability the US does so probably only comes in one of the trim packages there..

Does look like indeed the bi-LED perform slightly better for actual real world straightaway illumination, while triple beams edge out on high beam and left cornering.

Neither headlight unfortunately is able to reach optimal straightaway high beam illumination. I'd still get triple beams if i had the chance just cause they look better vs bi-LED.

The triple beans came with my Luxury and I am glad they did. Excellent peripheral lighting on both high and low beams.

I have a 350h Premium+ with the base LED headlights. Of course, anything can be made better, but the base headlights are excellent. They're far better than the LEDs I had on my RAV4, which were misaimed from the factory (too low). I'm certain the Triples are better but for the cost difference they should be adaptive.

My Premium + has the standard ones and I think they work fine so I would so no it's not worth it to me. They all have automatic high beams. I think that since I have not seen the triple beams I don't miss them. The car was already over 60K and I can think of a lot of things I would rather spend $1500 plus on.

Really hard question to answer. My previous Lincoln had an adaptive HID Headlight system that was very good. I now have the triple led on my RX350h and it is superior to the Lincoln and the best lighting I ever had but really can't compare with the standard RX350 headlights without seeing one first. So, pretty much can't answer the question, but can definitely vouch for the triple leds on my new Lexus!!

Triple beam comes with LED signal that alone seems worth it.
