Ok, got the funnel in and as I suspected it will not work on the 2024 RX350 Turbo model. The good news is the bottom clear part unscrews from the top and with that screwed in I can now put my regular funnel in this clear part. Works great.

Default Oil interval note

After watching the motor oil geek videos, etc, and owning the old Motor-Oil-Bible, I’ve decided on earlier than the 10,000 mile interval Lexus has determined. Especially w the new 2023 RX FSport w the turbo .
I will change the 2017 RX twice yearly @ 7500-8000 miles ,

Yup, same here ... however I have noticed that it's easier for me to remember in increments of 5,000 miles, perhaps too aggressive but very convenient.

We hit a year old on the oil thousands of miles before the 10K so we just do it annually.

I'm sticking with the 10k oil change interval. Our 2013 RX350 had 130k miles on it when we traded it in and it still ran perfectly with 10k intervals.

Your talking about totally different type of engine, that NA engine 2GR in your 2013 is bullet proof and you can easy do 10K intervals. On 2023 if you have turbo it is being extremely hard on that oil, due to such high temps it's running at and how thin oil weight is in it. The other argument I hear is the German cars go longer and have turbos, but there are using a lot heavier weight oil.
I lease my cars and always did the 10K intervals with 2GR and even further at times, but knowing how these turbos beat up oil and that there pushing these engines to max, I been doing it at 5k just to be safe even being leased for 3 years.

If your really set on 10K, I would just test it to be safe and maybe the numbers may surprise you. However if you own this car I would 100% change at 5K, we are talking very little cost.

I'll carry it further. I've been following manufacturers' recommended oil change intervals for almost 40 years with no issues. I plan to keep doing that.

The only reason I would start having my oil tested is if I wanted to go past the Lexus recommended 10k.

Testing will show oil is fine at 10k. Change early if you like…. But telling people they shouldn’t go to 10k and insisting they test as if that’s going to change their mind…. It won’t. If anything, testing will provide more evidence to support longer OCI.

I wonder if the people changing their oil at 5k were changing it at 1,500 back in the day. Every time oil change intervals are extended, or oil gets thinner, there are doom-sayers. I remember when I got my Ford Focus that calls for 5k oil changes with 5W20. The doom-sayers were out in force then, but 130k miles later, it runs like a clock. 5k oil changes and 5W20, every time. 10k oil changes are not a new thing. It's been over a decade, and if you listened to the doom-sayers, you'd expect the junkyards to be full of Lexus vehicles with dead engines by now...

X100. Seen plenty of Blackstone oil analysis reports on VW/Audi 2.0 liter turbos and the approved oil has always been fine at 10K.

Be careful - you'll get scolded by some that believe in more frequent OCIs I actually stick with 5 or 6K.

Ha, I hear ya, seems to be matter of choice and some are very fervent about it. I'm a geezer who keeps his cars forever, and I've never had a resulting oil issue on numerous cars that have gone to 150k and beyond.

The way I see it is - to each their own. If you want to go 10K miles, go for it, 5k miles, go for it. 33 mies, go for it. It's your car and your choice. To me it's cheap to do and I enjoying changing my oil.

Personally, I'm fine with whatever interval someone chooses. I just take issue with the idea that following manufacturer guidelines is on any way irresponsible.
