Water drops on rear view backup camera
Have any of you ever seen water drops in the camera view while in reverse? I've driven in quite a few rain storms since I bought the car and have never seen this. I noticed it today when I was dropping the car off at the shop to have PPF, window tint, and ceramic coating installed, so I could not spend any time investigating. I know that Lexus touts that the camera lens doesn't get dirty because it's inside the car, but I would like to know if I had water drops splash up under the roof spoiler or if I have a leak in the hatch window. Any ideas?

The picture you show is the the rearview backup camera. The rearview backup camera is not inside the vehicle. It’s outside the vehicle next to the button to open the rear cargo doors. Walk to the back of the car and you’ll see the little black box with the lens sticking out. Similar to any car, it’s very normal for it to get dirty or water spots when it’s raining or when driving in dusty conditions.
What you may be thinking of is the camera for the digital rearview mirror, if your car is equipped with it. The camera for that is located inside the car at the top of the rear cargo door window. You’ll see a little notch covered in plastic if you look outside the back window while sitting inside the car. If you see water drops on the digital rearview mirror or the image seems dirty, operate the rear windshield washer/wiper. If there’s still water drops on the digital rearview mirror, there’s a problem.

Water droplets on the “exterior” back camera is common. You could try the rear window washer which would activate the camera cleaner if I am not mistaken.

Rear camera washer
If your vehicle has rear camera washer equipped (probably standard for all RX 2023 but not sure), it will flush the backup camera at the same time you wash/clean the rear windshield. See the owner manual page 245 attached.

I keep a soft rag in my garage and wipe that camera after returning from rain or snow. On a rare occasion or two I’ve wiped that camera (in my old car) with a Kleenex or paper towel while out and about in bad weather. I rely on the rear view screen and am tuned into keeping the camera clean, accordingly.
