Default Shutting off the driver camera

Just picked up a 2023 RX 350 F Sport Handling. Loving it so far. It came with a driver monitor camera that has IR beams that set my Valentine 1 laser indicators off. Is there a way to totally disable that steering wheel camera? Searched all through settings and disabled all electronic nannies but the camera still seems to be on. Right now it has tape over it

One point of feedback: if you are asking yourself: should I get the mark Levinson? The answer is yes. Base system adequate but lacking. Only option I did not get on this that I wish I would have.

I remember someone else commenting on the V1 laser detector having issues but they just shut off the laser detection. From your post it seems shutting off the system only stops alerts but it remains active.

Which version of the V1 do you have?

It's the first version of the V1. I have the V1 2.0 in my 911 at the other house so I will test that when I get down there. Also--no can do on disabling laser. I need to know when I get clocked so I can have a chance to hop the next exit! Been researching and I still can't figure out how to turn it off. Guess the tape will be staying!

I am certain you can turn off the laser telemetry n the Lexus. I asked the dealer and they confirmed it. I hear you about not turning off laser detection on your V1 (I have the same version for now) and I get it. Although if you are first over a hill, you are toast.

That was me with a Valentine 1, Gen 1.

Turning off the driver monitor thing was the first thing I did, as it started barking 1 block out of the dealer. Pulled over, got the manual out and found it after about 10 minutes of searching for the setting, which I have now forgotten.

I'm now evaluating getting a Gen 2 Valentine vs a Uniden R8. Vortex has a $50 coupon for the R8, good till the end of May.

The new radar detectors are all pretty good (top end ones) but I sure like my V1 Might upgrade to the next gen. Th resale on old ones is awesome.
