Default Apple Car Play vs Infotainment

Not sure I am using the right words here but do people prefer to use their apple/android car play vs the system default? Curious on what people think

After using the Lexus system for a few weeks, I have changed over to the Apple CarPlay for navigation. I like the Apple Maps much better, screen is darker and is more detailed with many more points of interest. The Lexus map screen is bland in comparison. I have been inside the Apple ecosystem for many years now and it seems more comfortable my music, contacts and life are on my phone.

Thought the same with Android Auto and the Lexus infotainment system. We use exclusively Android Auto. Enjoy on the main screen Amazon music, Google podcast, books and Google maps.

I would be happy to use the Lexus default system but it fills the entire area up with a nav screen. Big fail IMO. I use Android Auto almost all the time.

I'd love to see an update later allowing to display both nav and audio as a split screen. It's amazing to me that they didn't include that in such a big screen for the 14" one.

I despise subscription services. So, haven't even signed up for it. Had it on my last car. Over 4 years, used it a handful of times. I use Carplay.

Well when you buy a new RX you've paid for it for three years up front.

‘I also hate subscription services but found out long ago that Sirius will drop their price big time if you bargain with them. I got an additional year for less than half of what they wanted. No reason to pay their list price. I enjoy my music and FOX news.

Only problem with Apple and Google maps is that the directions don't show up in the HUD (if you have it).

The next AA update will allow you to choose what two apps you want to appear on the start-up screen. Defaults always to Google maps which we use navigation 10% of the time. We will chose Google podcast and XM.

Apple Maps DOES do this. And to my surprise, I like it as much as Google Maps.

Your making me feel old LOL. I bought a life time subscription from XM Radio way before they merged with Sirius. They only charged me $35 to switch it to my RX. Too bad they don't still have that deal.

I place that charge in the "price of admission" column.
