Open the crash test video in YouTube. Use the Settings menu to slow down the video to ¼ speed. Scroll to around 1 minute 25 seconds and then play. You will be able to see that the center airbag pops up from the right side of the driver's seat.
Lexus did not omit this option for N. American models.

This the European crash test with a European spec car. I would like to see the IIHS test video.

They have to be. If you have ever been in a vehicle where the bags inflated, it will scare the crap out of you. Literally explosions going off all around you at the blink of an eye and then silence. I was in the passenger seat of a Mercedes that ran into the rear end of another vehicle. No one was hurt but the air bags really left you with a healthy respect for these hidden devices.
