Fortunately, i’ve never owned a vehicle with high end oem system. Had customized audio in some of my previous cars, but audio on current vehicle are not great. I’ve heard the ML system in a 08 LS460 and love the sound of it.

After playing the drums for 30+ years my hearing is toast.
The ML in the NX350 is no where near as good as the ML in the RX350. Don't judge reviews on the NX...Not fair or accurate. Had em both and even I can hear the difference. But the biggest fan of the ML option is my wife...she can still hear and likes her music.
Audio is different to each person. The only way to tell is take the stuff you like to listen to and try them out.

My wife just got a new RX as a loaner while her 2015 GX is at the dealer. She has the ML, and I have the ML with the UL pkg in my old 2011 ES. I cranked up the stock system in the RX last night, and wow, what hot garbage it is!!! I cannot believe Lexus would offer such a poor basic sound system. Once you have the ML, you cannot step down. There's absolutely no comparison between the two. I don't know if I've ever seen an RX with the ML; it seems that they're rare. I'm looking for an LS460, and those without the ML are deal breakers.

The stock sound system may be decent (I haven’t heard it) but unless paying more is a concern, but the ML upgrade is going to sound better. To me, the ML in my 500h sounds much better than 2016 MDX ELS and 2020 GS ML. It may be due to more speakers, their placement, and the cabin space of the new RX. I think it’s worth the upgrade if you enjoy music while driving.

TBH, I've never understood high-end sound in a car. It is like those guys who spend 15K on a sound system for a wakesurf boat. Like there is any audio fidelity? I will say the quieter cabin of the Lexuses in general will make any decent system sound better. But forget things like dynamic range etc. Spin an LP at home and see what I mean.
