Default Inserts for the rear door pockets. Why?

Great videos. I’m still working through them. I found this:

They are inserts for the rear door pockets. Why?

You can pull the out to clean them in case of spills.

But in order for bottles that might spill to be in the door, the insert needs to be out to begin with.

No, a typical 16oz soda bottle still fits with the insert in.

These liners are also in both drink holders. It is nice to be able to remove them for cleaning.

So if you use the deep drink options with the liners already out, how do you clean then?

‘Why would you take out the liners except for cleaning? Am I missing something.

Easiest way to explain it is to look at part 1 of the deep dive into the RX video at the 55:44 point to see why this came up.

Yes you are. You’d take them out because they aren’t liners at all. They are actually thick, hard, deep pocket to smaller pocket adapters. Totally different than the thin, soft rubber liners (for easy cleaning) in the front center console. The better question, which was my original question, is why use these adapters at all? They flatten out the default cup holder.

Sorry but not going to get obsessed over something like this. I know you love your RX but try to relax and just enjoy it and try to not drive yourself crazy thinking about why the earth is not flat.

I appreciate your concern about perhaps driving myself crazy, but I’m already crazy. That being said, this is a Lexus forum, it’s a totally new Lexus vehicle, and I stand by my question. While it’s not critical to the use of the vehicle, it’s a valid question as to the purpose of these adapters that seem to reduce the functionality of the door pockets.

Actually what I’m asking has not been addressed, even on the “deep dive” video. To put it more succinctly: Why would anyone want to effectively blank out the cup holders in the doors and reduce pocket depth at the same time?

I had the same thought after watching the video so OP you’re not alone. The liners seem dumb since they block out the cup holder. Ah well, I’ll just use the center cup holders. Seems a higher likelihood of spilling with a cup in the door anyway.
