Well quit the digital key app - does the phone name return to normal with the app closed? Actually that is a good observation since this "passive" code in bluetooth parlance indicates another device is present on the channel, that's why I was commenting on the speaker/earpods above - but yes, it could well be the digital key app.

Lexus Brand Engagement Center (BEC) confirms it is known issue on Android devices with the Lexus digital key:
No remediation is indicated. The case is documented and remains open.

I have the issue with my PIxel 6 and 2024 NX350h. For sure it's the digital key as I uninstalled the app and everything reset to normal. WhenI reinstalled the app everything was normal but when I activated the digital key that's when my phone name became "Passive." I logged the issue with BEC.

I have the same issue pixel 8 my wife doesn't have the same problem as me but I believe this is due to her not having the digital key.

It's super annoying, as well when I receive a call sometimes I can't hear the other person and have to switch to my device.

Have you adjusted the car's volume while your phone is being used? Have your wife call you, and remain talking.

There is an update to Android Auto that has helped me on similar issues. It has been slowly rolled out so it may not be available yet for you. I still have trouble understanding the volume issue and how each has Bluetooth output has to be adjusted separately.

2024 RX 350h seems to be doing the same thing to my fully up to date Pixel 8 Pro.
It's frustrating to no end given that I love technology and small quirks like this are really annoying.

Also, not to mention that in order for the digital key to work, I think I have to have all permissions enabled, including location at all times, which seems to eat up a lot of my phone battery even when I'm not using the app or the car. After I disabled the location permission, the key on the phone doesn't seem to work reliably, if at all...

I picked up this car a few weeks ago and got only ONE key fob. The dealer blamed the infamous chip shortage and said that the other key fob will come in a few months! I thought to myself, no problem! I still have the digital key. Right? Yeah... When or if it works...

And the absolute cherry on top of this !@#$ cake is that this digital key BS made by amateurs is over $200 option that I paid for!!!
