My other cars can mute radio or other media plays automatically when i receive message and i click on it on carplay and same thing when i want a reply to message everything gets quite while i'm speaking.
This RX350 nothing gets muted, while listening to message or when i'm replying to messages. Very annoying, i'm sure somewhere something has to be set it up.

 

Unfortunately Lexus’s crappy new multimedia system can’t do that. Big step backwards compared to the old system. It takes a few months of ownership to appreciate the many missteps they took.

 

Wow, i can't believe nothing can be done and lexus did put this nonsense in these cars.
I was hoping that my setting or something preventing this to be used correctly.
Maybe some update can fix this and Lexus can work on it?

 

It's pretty insane that this was overlooked. My 2020 ES did not have this issue. I have Apple Carplay, the Siri will play on one side of the speakers while the music will keep blasting on the other side. It's insanity.

 

You have to remember to power off the media. It's another unsafe distraction that forces action. Lexus messed up big time here.

I have to agree on this issue: I've had my RX for about 2 months and the lack of auto-volume muting is is the one thing that bugs me the most in day-to-day use. Our 2019 Highlander had the Toyota Entune system and I ended up replacing the entire head unit to get rid of that mess; however, obviously not an option with most new cars now due to how embedded the system is on every function of the car. I read somewhere that there may be a software update coming in October to coincide with the MY 2024 RX release, and I'm really hoping that Lexus addresses this issue and the general idiocy of the menus/sub-menus in the infotainment system.

 

Does the muting also not take place when a voice call comes in?? Been toying with trading my wife's 2017 RX which has been bullet proof for 80K+ miles but the more I read this forum, the more I'm inclined to have her ride the wheels off the 17.

 

I would be nice but the 2022 NX which uses the same multimedia system didn't see an OTA update until April 2023. That was just bug fixes and removing the hybrid radio feature. No new features were added.

 

I'm really hopeful if they do release an RX update that it's more than an OTA push would allow; wanting to see more substantial changes in the GB file-size range...

 

Agreed, the old system with touch screen only would have been so much better than what they've given us.

 

Build 08/23 - the media system volume goes WAY down when a text comes in or when I use Google (Android Auto). Works as I expect it to. Haven't tried making or receiving a call yet.

More testing... mute works with both Android Auto and regular Lexus entertainment (radio). I made calls and muting works as expected.
