2024 Price/Lease Thread

RX450H+ never makes sense purely from car/$ perspective - using mileage as a metric. Even though I get free charging at work, I wouldn't have gotten it from the mpg perspective at all. I do value the environmental impact, the higher hp/torque relative to the 350H, and the noise/vibration-mitigated driving when I'm in pure-EV mode and even on highways in hybrid mode, and keep cars for very long too (7-10 years). The 350H+ vs. 350 comparison is more balanced from the mpg perspective.

Agree. That's where I am stuck. "Environmental impact" but no subsidy or rebate is just plain stupid in my opinion. Buyer and Seller has to meet somewhere in middle. 15,000 more is 25% of the cost of the car. The way I calculated is that 15000 dollar is 3000 gallon which is minimum 60,000 miles worth with the avg of 20 miles on ICE.

I have never leased a car, either as a means to save money, or as an alternative to purchasing outright. I appreciate those willing to do the work like mentioned to get the $7,500 or however much it is. But to me, not worth the added complexity.

Dear All - Getting RX 350 Luxury (ICE) model 10% off MSRP. I was debating between RX350h ($6k or $7k more) and RX450h+ ($15 k) more. Even if I take gas price 5 dollar a gallon, it will take me 6 years to break even with RX350h or drive with 12000 mile per year average and it will take me 60000 miles to drive before breakeven for 450h+. Am I missing something on why people think RX350h or 450h+ is economical. I really wanted 450h+ but price didnt make sense.
As I posted a few days ago, I went with lease and immediate buy out so I was able to save almost $13k off the Rh450h+ which puts in line with RX350h Luxury price.

RX450h+ qualifies for HOV/carpool/Clean Air Vehicle sticker here in California. Benefits are (San Francisco Bay Area) : can go through carpool lane while solo in the car, 50% discount on bridge tolls, 50% discount on Fastrack lanes.. these adds up. I got solar panel installed on my roof almost 5 years ago, pretty much have paid for itself now. I charge at home so rarely need to visit the gas station, specially when it's almost $6 a gallon here.

That is nutty. That model can be had for 10% off msrp. Also note some history of trans issues with the 500h.

My neighbor just purchased a new Hyundai Ioniq5 for $10k off sticker. $7500 factory incentive + $2500 dealer discount. That is a big discount for a $50k car. A local Chevy dealer is discounting Silverado trucks by $12000. So I guess manufacturers are fighting for whatever consumer spending dollars are left before the well runs dry this year.

I'm guessing supply and demand and add to it some reliability issues with the 500h that are still not fully resolved. When we bought our 350h, they tried to steer us to the 500h that they had more available and in stock. Nope. We bought one on allocation and waited about a month.

Also a lot of people are repeat RX owners. The 500 probably gives them sticker shock and having been happy with a 350, just sticking with what they know. Not sure how many European SUV owners are truly aware of the 500 or if they would even consider one- brand loyalty and all that...
