Default Does Garage Door Opener work when car is off?

Have a question about the remote garage door opener. I know that on my 2018 rx if I sync my remote garage opener to the car and the car is turned off if I push the button to open the garage door under the rear view mirror, it will open. Does anyone know if this has been fixed with the 20 23–24 model so that anyone cannot reach in to your car push the button and open your garage door?

Almost positive that the Homelink buttons work when the car is off. I think I ran through this when setting it up.

From the car, the garage door opener works all the time. It's very convenient that way.

No doubt it works without the ignition being turned on. I never programmed any of my three garage doors and use the remote that came with the doors. It is hidden so I can reach the buttons without even pulling it out.

I could see where an owner that parks outside would want the Homelink to be defeatable when the car is off.

Open the car with a slim-Jim, then open a garage to gain access to the house, and run off with the family safe, and all the good silverware...

Our relatively late model Hyundai (2019) has Homelink buttons that do not work, if the vehicle is off. So obviously some manufacturers have different strategies for security.

I just conducted a series of test on this question. The garage door opener works when the car is off only if it is not locked. I went inside the car, turned off the engine, locked the door using the keyfob button, waited for the security light on top of the dash to start blinking and then pressed the garage door opener button and it did not open the garage door !!! So, the security is great! 👍
