To give you some feedback, I travel almost every week for work which means multiple of rental cars and with National mostly they have huge section of luxury cars to pick from mostly BMW and Audi, some infinity, so I get a good amount to choose from and I personally have Audi as well. My biggest disappointment s was the BMW X3, I thought wow I am going be blown away when I drive this thing, but it drove horrible and it only had 3k miles on it and I have gotten other X3s ones, same feeling. Audi's I am use to, but couldn't believe they felt even better then the BMW, now it could be because it was basic X3 but I couldn't believe BMW would drive like that. I have driven 3 series and they were awesome for sedans, but these X3 were horrid again it was probably base X3. Then comes other usual Nissan suvs which are absolutely horrible with I think CVT transmission and fair share of Explorers which aren't great. I will honestly tell you every time I get back to home and drive my Lexus I know why I have the Lexus, it is night and day from these cars. Again I am not driving an LS, I am driving an RX, but getting in it seems so refined and plush and I have F sport. It just drives refined, I don't know how say it but yes 4 cylinders takes that away a bit but it still refined.

One thing I will say from BMW, Audi is forward thinking technology which Lexus doesn't have, for example with BMW all you do is walk next to it door opens without touch or hitting key fob, Then you walk away and it locks for you. It small items like that, and Audi virtual **** pit which been around since 2016 still blows it away.

If you like refined, without driving an S class, then Lexus is still bargain, yes not may be fastest and they are making them a tad more with plastic, but they still feel like Lexus.
I know 4 cylinder was big blow to us but this all due to nonsense of emission BS.

I like the new grille better. The 4th gen grille kept me on the sidelines. My brother has a 2019 450h which we call "predator" after the alien creature.

for some reason, the grille looks better to me out on the road than it does in my garage....seems bulbous there, but approaching it on the road it looks OK.

I probably wouldn't or at least until many years down the line. Mine has a lot of QC and build issues that I noticed where it looks more Toyota than Lexus. This isn't even including the frustration and limitations of the infotainment system. While the last gen didn't look at as good, I actually appreciated all the hard tactile buttons.

What kind of QC and build issues?

Mine has the dashboard trim falling down issue. Front hood gap large enough I can see the inside plastic trim. Also weird high pitched whine noise at 60-63 mph. Rattles behind the door panel. I had a 2020 ES300h before this and it was much better built. Had a 2018 Audi A4 before that and that was also very high build quality. It was either this or the 2023 GX 460. I should've went with that but hindsight is 20/20. Newer is not always better. I'm not old and I work in IT and I STILL think the full touchscreen sucks.

The items you are listing are typical first year car issues that are typically addressed in the following years of production. 2020 ES was 2nd year and the 2018 Audi was well into its model build.

These are not Lexus specifics, but usually Lexus is better than industry average for first year model issues. Not to say that RX does not have issues or shortcoming, but nothing is without issues.

I experience with Toyota and Lexus is that their infotainments have always been below average and they still are

I had hoped it would be better but it seems my expectations for first year Lexus were too high. Unfortunately, these kinds of things are made worse given the brand reputation plus costs. If it were a RAV4, then it would be more palatable. This is a learning experience. I also don't expect any fix for infotainment OS issues (e.g Text message reads back while music is still playing instead of pausing it).

I guess my benchmark for 1st year build quality was my 2018 Q5; it was the first model year of a major redesign and I had zero quality or performance issues with it - not a thing; I guess that's why I'm so disappointed in my RX. I agree that, based on our experience with our 2019 Highlander, that it is highly unlikely that there will be any major updates for the 2023 infotainment system. I hope I'm wrong, but if there aren't any major updates to that system by June/July 2024, I'm probably getting rid of the RX.

Yeah, I don’t think Lexus gives a crap about anything but perceived reliability. They have zero interest in putting out a world class vehicle.

Default Not perfect and satisfied

I would not recommend to my friends or family members. Having my RX350h for almost 8 months now with 10k+ miles. The car is not fun drive. Acceleration is lazy and and cornering poorly. It’s quite most of times but the noises when you throttling kind of ruins everything. Do you really think this is a luxury car should be driving like?

I test drove a BMW X5 and it was phenomenal. The tech is light years ahead. It was built and felt like a solid tank on the road. And that wasn't even the M50i variant either. Some of these RX builds are over 65k which is in X5 territory.

When I bought my 2003 325i it was so perfect, I stopped looking at other cars for around 7 years. If that’s not the feeling one gets then the car is basically mediocre. Unfortunately, I don’t think such a car exists these days. And I don’t think anything better will come out. If we look at what has been happening, things are only getting worse and expensive with each redesign. Why is this happening? My speculation is that people aren’t passionate about their work. There’s are reasons for that too but I’ll stop here.

I evaluated the RX and decided to pass as I just didn’t see the value in it and think it has too much useless tech. In this case I went with an RDX over the NX or RX.

BTW this post should have had a poll.
