This is not a surprise for anyone that has worked in the trade and he isn't shocked by this in any way, it's just another sales pitch.

Toyota has always had dealer double pricing on parts, sometimes more. The online parts departments are a little cheaper but they always state that the dealer will set the actual price, sometimes it will be cheaper on fast moving parts.

Every Toyota/Lexus OEM part comes from a distribution centre somewhere, I don't get your point about works...

Where do you get maintenance work done?
Hello,
first time Lexus owner here and just put 30,000 miles on my 2023 RX350. I had the service done at my Local dealer NORTHSIDE Lexus in the Woodlands TX. I paid $986. I definitely feel like it was a lot but I dont have a second car and got a loaner from them, but I feel like I’d still get a better deal if I used a rental car service in the meantime. Service included air filters, oil change, windshield wipers (front and rear), brake fluid change and a $200 alignment they wouldn’t take out which is dumb.
Where do you take your cars for maintenance? I’d do most of it myself as I would do it on my Toyotas but I plan on trading the car in for a GX down the line so I’d like for there to be a service history for the trade in. I don’t think paying the markup for the service at the dealer is sustainable especially if this one cost $986 for basic items.
any advice would be greatly appreciated. Bonus points if you have a shop in the area as well I can use in the future.

When I need the 30,000 mile service I go to the Lexus or Toyota dealership and ask for my oil change, brake fluid change and tire rotation. These ala carte cost me $270. The engine and cabin air filter are easy to change takes 5 minutes for both and cost $40 combined. So total cost $320.
