Default New RX or used 2020-2022 RX

We have a 2015 RX350 and looking to buy a new RX350h or RX450h+. Also thinking about a used 2020-2022 RX350 or RX450h. I like the used models because of the V6 engine. Is anyone with a 2020-2022 RX bought or thinking of buying the new RX. Has anyone driven both and would you go with the new RX and why.

I have driven and owned both both. The new 350h will not disappoint when it comes to power and I love the updated technology!

I have a '23 hybrid. Plenty of power and is fun to drive. I roll my eyes at those who complain about the noise when you floor it.

Everybody is different. I didn't want German so the choice was easy.

I own 2022 Rx 350. This year shop for one more Lexus car. Test drove 2023 Rx 350, did not like increased level of engine noice in comparison to v6 of 2022.. ended up buying ES350 v6.

Consumer Reports best midsize luxury sedan. I agree with you totally. I've had two for loaners over 4 days. The power is plenty the noise level is super quiet I averaged 37 miles per gallon.

We had a 2013 RX350 and didn't feel that there was enough of an upgrade from later models until 2023. We wound up trading it in on an RX450h+ and have zero regrets.

Default Tough time deciding 4th 0r 5th gen RX

I am having a tough time deciding between a new Lexus RX350h or the previous gen RX350 w/ V6. Not interested in the new non-hybrid or higher priced hybrid models. I have a deposit on a new RX350h prem+ but I’m not so sure that a hybrid would best suit our needs. Looking to replace car after an accident so very unexpected and I’m not really a car person. I’d like a very comfortable, quiet and super reliable car that sits higher than a sedan. Not thrilled with my previous SUV’s gas mileage so the hybrid savings is a nice plus but not at the top of my wants. My concerns with the hybrid are: 1) We live in Texas where the heat is pretty unbearable and I’m concerned about longtime engine and battery performance as we will likely drive ten plus years. 2) We travel a couple times of year where the car will be in an enclosed garage for a few weeks at a time during the summer. Does sitting like this harm the life of the hybrid battery in any way? 3) How well suited is the new hybrid engine for driving on the highway over long period of times at speeds that fluctuate between 75-85? The texas highways seem to have higher speed limits than many other states. Not so concerned about the gas savings with this as I am the wear and tear on the engine long term.

I know the previous model RX would be fine but I prefer the interior of the new and I know what to expect with that type of engine.

Hybrids love heat and don't like cold weather. O live in a mild winter climate and lose about 1.5-2 mpg in the winter. EV lose about 20% range. The hybrid battery is warranted for ten years. I have not read one member on this site talk about their faulty hybrid battery. Comments about Toyota Prius cabs in NYC with original battery and over 300,000 miles. I have no concern about it. Great plus is fifth Lexus hybrid over 500,000 miles and never replaced brakes. Some here have 150,000 miles and said their mechanic said plenty of pad life left. Regular gasoline is another great plus. No one makes hybrids like Toyota.

Default 22 rx450h f sport handling to 24 rx500h performance

Loved the V6, loved the cvt until I drove, I mean really drove the rx500h. My GF traded her 15 rx350 for hers. She loves it.

I hated the 23 rx350h and 23 rx350 gas I got as a loaner. They both suck, because of the engine and trans. The cheaper information system sucks too.

The 500h is the only version I would give up the V6 for. At lower speeds and less demand, the 4 banger is fine. When you ask if for more she does a little squat and she's off like a bandit. Only Rx I have ever owned that does this (2g,3g and 4g Gen). No more speed limited to 115mph. Hitting 130+ very easy. The 500 does everything better than a top line 22 Rx did.

IMHO if you thinking a 5th gen 350, get a 4th Gen v6. You thinking 500, then you'll never look back except at other cars in the rear view lol.

I have a 2024 RX 350 and not happy with it, there is a lot more outside noise, all the parking and backing up alerts are way to sensitive and annoying, along with the close and lock feature for the hatch, if you are too close it won't close and if you move too far away it won't close. The foot open feature only works half the time. With the new V4 engine I feel like it has lost power and the ride doesn't feel like a luxury ride anymore, I also don't like the saving gas feature were the engine turns off when you are not driving, yes you can turn it off, however you have to turn it off everytime you drive. I also found a sticker on it that says that they are collecting data from the car and tracking it, I don't want to be tracked and to turn it off you are supposed to hit the SOS button but that calls 911. I wish I would have kept my 2016 350 or bought a used 2022, before they changed the engine. I don't feel like it's a $65,000 luxury car anymore. I like the drive of my 2019 Tacoma better.

65k for a gas 350 is 1000 less than what I paid for a loaded 72k 500 performance I would be upset too lol

I hate the start stop crap too that's why I opted for the hybrids

I have a ‘17 350 f sport. I test drove RX500H 3 times. All 3 times, I didn’t feel like I would gain much for the money other than some of the tech(mainly CarPlay). Sure, it’s faster but I really don’t care for it as it’s an SUV and my family hauler. And my ‘17 RX350 is plenty fast to get on the highway.
The more I read about the 500H on this forum, the more problems it seems to have. First the 12Gal low fuel warning and have to force the pump to get more than that. Second, there’s seem to be some transmission problem(?) that causes the juddering. And then, there’s the premium fuel required on these new turbo-charged. My ‘17 V6 is doing about 20MPG on regular fuel. These new turbo charged is better but they required premium. The price difference in regular vs premium fuel in my area is almost $1 more.
The only model I’m interested in on the new RX is the 450H+. The 35miles EV range is enough for my weekday commute and the 35-40MPG would be sweet on my weekend drives. But at $76k, a new GX will be more of an upgrade than the new RX. I’ll be checking out the GX before spending $76k on an RX.

Keeping my 2015 Rx350. But if I did want an upgrade the 2022 RX is as new as I'm going. Sure you can guess the obvious reasons.

Agree the 500h is a non starter for me until they resolve trans issues. Plus it's way overpriced for what it is. I may look at the 350h to replace our 2017 at some point.

I have a 2016 RX350 with the V6 and a 2024 RX 350h with the 4 cylinder hybrid. Both great cars for us. I love the 350h. It is smooth and quiet if not pushed. When pushed it moves, but the engine sounds course.

The V6 on the 2016 drones around 1500-2000 RPM, but when pushed it sounds sweet.

The V6 uses at least double the gas compared to the 350h

The handling and drive is also much better on the new chassis.

If you like high tech then the new one is also loaded with Technology and the infotainment system is much much better.

For me personally the 2024 RX350h is a no brainer as best value for the product, but there are Significant price differences between the RX 350h and RX450h+; even more compared to used RX 350.
