Default Base AWD vs Premium or Premium Plus

Went to the dealer for an NX Premium, but after driving one we then drove a RX 350 Base AWD in iridium (favorite color). We preferred the RX 350 Base AWD better. It rides and drives like butter. The 2.4 turbo is very responsive. We would have possibly would have gone with a Premium but there weren't any available in iridium. Not a huge difference in equipment between the two and the price difference is minimal. We did however, move up from $47000.00 for the NX to $55,000 for the RX another $2,000 wouldn't have been a big deal for a few more features. Thoughts?

Side note: Hybrid buyers gas cost conscious paying upwards of $60,000.00 for a car. What's the big deal about gas prices?

There are many reasons one might want a hybrid over a non-hybrid. The hybrid offers a different driving experience. Some prefer that experience. Depending on your use case, a hybrid may save you money over the long term. Just because one wants luxury, doesn't mean one doesn't care about money at all. Some people are also environmentally conscious and want to reduce their carbon-impact. These are just a few examples.

Driving the RX 350h was a very unfulfilling driving experience IMO.

Everyone has a different idea of what a fulfilling driving experience is. That's why there are so many makes and models of vehicles...

price difference between the equivalent packages in gas and 350h are less than $2000. Hybrid is smoother, uses less gas and regular gas.

And at 12,000 miles per year and $3 gas, the break-even is only 5 years. At 15,000 and $4.30 gas, as is closer to my use case, it's only 3 years.

My BOTE calculation says we will save $1000 a year on regular gas. Would be closer to $1400 if the hybrid needed premium.

Plus sixth hybrid traded each in with about 100, 000 miles and never needed any brake work done. Mechanic said had plenty of pad left each time.

We just picked up a Premium Plus 2024. I liked the rear view mirror being a camera for when we pack it full as well as a few other features.
