Default Engine cycles when put in park

Usually when I turn off the car I use the start button without hitting park first and the car goes into park automatically. This is great, but sometimes I put in park to leave engine running. Sometimes when I do this the engine does a very short stop start cycle almost instantly. This is even when the auto stop start is disabled. My wife always hits park first and always has stop/start disabled, she also notices this quite often. Has anyone else noticed this?

Ours does it well. It’s super weird IMHO.

Which version do you have? If it's the non-hybrid turbo four, it could be cooling off the turbocharger parts.

No, that kind of stuff is done by intermittently running a coolant pump after engine shutdown for a couple minutes. This is a quick restart then shutdown right after the engine fires.
