Default Cabin Air Filter- does air flow up or down?

I'm changing the cabin air filter with an aftermarket filter that shows an arrow pointing towards "air flow". The original filter has an up arrow, but air flow may be opposite of this arrow.
Am I correct that I should point the new cabin air filter with the air flow arrow pointing down, because air flow is down?

Appears it should go in with the airflow arrow pointing up. Do an interernet search from your browser, replace cabin filter 2023 RX350. There are videos showing the process. The following YouTube (University) link shows a simple process. Cheers.

Why would any filter manufacturer point an arrow in anything but the direction of airflow?

It's a bit confusing. But I'll remember to do airflow down.

Agree 100%. Filter airflow direction is filter airflow direction, regardless of the manufacturer. Just because one may choose to use an aftermarket cabin air filter doesn't mean that the car's airflow somehow reverses direction...... Unless I am really missing something here.

Lexus OEM filters have the word "UP" with an arrow next to it and the arrow should point up. Aftermarket filters have an arrow indicating air flow and usually the airflow is down, so the arrow should point down when that is true. Yes, confusing, but that's how it is.

Guess I wasn't awake upon my first reading of the thread. Think about this (logically).
When you remove the old filter which side was dirty with all the debris, the top or the bottom ?
That is the side the outside air is coming in from.
The cleaner side is the filtered air side that will be distributed to the cabin vents.
The new filter has an arrow indicating air flow direction. The filter should be installed with the arrow pointing in the direction to the 'cleaner' side , towards the air vents.
This observation will apply to all vehicles regardless of make model or production year. (Keep It Simple)
To this point, it will only take you a few minutes to lower the glove box, remove the cover, and examine which direction you installed the filter into the slider frame.
Cheers,

We just inspected our cabin air filter, and all the debris was on TOP.

So, airflow surely flows down towards the floorboard.

I think that the UP arrows indicate the proper orientation of the air filter HOLDER, and the filter compartment door.

There are also UP arrows on the OEM filters.

Note, this is just an example photo. Not the filter for the 5th gen RX.

The drawing in the manual also shows Up arrow on the filter.

It seems we have to be smarter than the average bear. Determine if the arrow is communicating to us (a) filter element orientation or (b) air flow direction. Depending on the intention of the markings both arrow configurations can be correct.

That is exactly right and it's been that way since the last generation and it's the same way on my ES.
