Default GX460 to RX350

Hey All- I've owned a new GX460 (2023) for 6 months, just not feeling the love. Several minor issues including a vibration issue that so far, the dealer is unable to resolve. Seriously considering the RX350, it drives much nicer, much faster on the highway and rides a bit better. The 4-cyl turbo is not as smooth as the V8, but it has better low end torque. Anyone regret their RX purchase?

I sure don't. While I miss a 6 cylinder turbocharged engine (my other car has one), the engine in the RX350 is most adequate in my opinion. The only thing that I don't like about it is the sound when accelerating from a stop or low speed. Once at speed, I don't even notice the engine sound when accelerating. The vehicle is very smooth and quiet and I often find myself going MUCH faster than I thought I was.

And IMHO with the current and future EPA mandated guidelines, don't expect to see a return of I6/V6/V8's in future vehicles. I hope that I am wrong on this........

I noted the same performance. Unfortunately, I had many RX loaners due to the GX issues. The RX blows away the GX in performance. It's hard to keep the GX at speed on the highway. I am trading space and weight for better performance. Thanks for the reply.

I love the GX, especially the new 2024 model.

However the RX wins for me in several areas.

size, comfort, handling, MPG

The GX is on a truck platform, and the RX is a car/crossover chassis which equates to a more compliant ride.

The GX is iconic, with almost a cult following. I bought it with the intention of keeping it a long time. Just can't deal with the truckness and how darn slow it is. Plus I can't seem to get the issues (although minor) ironed out.

Consider the 350h - nearly 39 mpg for me over the first few months. Silky smooth, quiet and no trans shifts - plenty of pickup as well unless you're racing somewhere.

Agree 100%. To each there own but would not consider a RX350. Three months and 38 mpg. Got 43 mpg on a recent highway trip. Super quiet and smooth. Significantly quieter than my 2017 RX 450h.

I've owned (2) RX350's and upgraded to the TX350 and enjoying the extra space & smooth ride. I'm pleasantly surprise of the performance of this 4cyl turbo which is my first experience with one. Maybe my expectations were pretty low since I'm use to v8's & v6's.
Thought I would miss the v6 in my old 2020 RX350, but I don't. I did look at the GX but the mpg was awful.

The 4-Cyl Turbo is punchy, if a bit noisy. But power comes on early and the engine quiets down at speed. I like the RX, fantastic tech and features, but I am going to give the GX another try. The dealer replaced two front tires yesterday and it seems better. The GX is a different feel, it's slow, but like a battleship. Kind of a badass feel to it, and the V8 makes nice noises. I do need the GX size, so it will stay until my mind wanders in another direction. I have a 911 and Macan, plus a VW Jetta GLI. So I guess expecting speed and a great ride in the GX is silly. Thanks for all the great comments.

Makes sense, you have 3 vehicles that are fun to drive.

Golf R is a cool ride. New ones in the Northeast were 10k over sticker a few months ago.
