Lexus app incorrectly says car is Unlocked
Hi there,
Has anyone had this issue: I lock my car (using the hand-to-door sensor method) and walk into the store. From within the store I open up my Lexus app and it says that my car is "Unlocked"...when actually it is still locked. I can lock it again with the app but that should not have to happen.
Thanks,
Rob from Sacramento

The car typically sends its status to the Lexus servers a few minutes after turning the car off. It's not immediate. So it depends on how long you're waiting to look. Also, have you tried refreshing it while in the app to force it to communicate again?

We often need to refresh the RX's status within the app for it to accurately tell us what is going on (door locking, windows cracked open, etc).

OP correctly describes locking the car with the key present and hand to handle touch.
To clarify for all to know, there are four (4) ways to lock a Lexus, two (2) with the fob, two (2) without.
With the fob you may: 1 - press the fob "Lock" button or 2 - touch the outside door handle.
Both of these methods will: lock all doors, set the alarm, notify the App and fold the mirrors (if equipped)
Without the fob (even if it is within range) you may: 1 - press the inside door handle "lock" button or
2 - physically press the mechanical toggle (which only locks that single door). This technique will only
lock the door(s) and will not set the alarm, notify the App or fold the mirrors.

Pages 70 - 72 of Owner's Manual elaborates on the Theft Deterrent system.
Primarily an extra check that a valid key fob is being used, also set off the lights
and horn if any door is opened from the inside. Likely scenarios would be some
one breaks a window and then opens a door or a less messy situation where you
leave windows open for ventilation and somebody reaches in and opens a door.
Sets 30 seconds after door lock with a fob (see above), try it by leaving a window
open. Cancel the alarm by pressing Unlock on the fob.
