They say it will be announced (debut) is May 31st.. any idea when actual production will start and when they might be shipped to the dealers? My wife and I are seniors and in her case, vertically challenged. It’s her ride and she tells me constantly that she still loves it after almost 3 years. Unless you have some debilitating injuries you should be fine.

When you get a chance would you please get a yardstick and ioen the drivers door and place yardstick on the ground up against the door sill and with a tape measure measure how far it is from the yar stick to the edge of the seat?

Keep in mind, you can also have running boards installed. They are reasonably attractive on the RX. I would recommend combining them with mudguards to prevent some of the front wheel slop from blowing up on the running boards. My wife is also vertically challenged (with a new hip) and she really likes the RX with the running boards. Our last SUV was the smaller NX and this RX with running boards actually fits her better. Below is an image of our RX with running boards - but before we learned our lesson with the mudguards…

I like what I see there, the roofline doesn't seem to slope as much as the current gen meaning more vertical cargo space. Time to start saving $ for the 500h

Thats looks nice.. I ordered running board for my X5 too and they really looked nice but they made the "stretch" worse for me. So I had them removed. In tis X5 the sill to seat distance is more than the normal car. Others on their forum agreed,

I have been removed from the Lexus world for a few years now but considering this new RX when it comes out next year. I previously had the 2nd and 3rd generation IS.

I was curious what Lexus has/will be introducing in terms of vehicle telematics for tracking stolen vehicles? The sad reality for us in the Toronto area is that every single model year from 2016 onwards and every model variation of the RX consistently appears on the top ten most stolen vehicles in the province of Ontario. This has become a big concern for many people in my circle when considering a Lexus. Six houses in my area have had their RX350 disappear overnight in the span of a few months. It seems extremely simple to steal these vehicles.

Other automakers such as BMW, Mercedes, GM (with their OnStar) have an excellent track record for recovering and in some cases, disabling stolen vehicles. My question is whether Lexus has any plans for a more robust telematics system to minimize the risk of such thefts? Endless Lexus reliability is not much help when the vehicle is going to disappear from the driveway within the first couple of years. Thanks for any insight anyone may have!

Yes, this will discourage some car thieves from considering stealing a vehicle if it has a club. But many thieves can still overcome this deterrent with a little more time. Given these thefts happen between 2-4am, an extra 5-10 minutes doesn't necessarily increase the chance of them getting caught. I am more than willing to use a club regularly but my wife has mentioned she doesn't necessarily have the patience or interest to mount/remove this every single day.

I really hope that Lexus/Toyota with all their budget and engineering expertise implement more modern connected methods to minimize thefts rather than having owners of $60-70K luxury vehicles use a piece of technology that dates back to 1986. I suppose we will find out more during the reveal next week. Still very much interested in one of the hybrid variants of the new RX.

Lexus has really been able to keep this one under wraps. Looking forward to the reveal tomorrow, and hope they show both interior and exterior along with what power plants will be offered.
