not being biased, but i think the 2020+ RX won't be outdated once the new model comes out, these will age just as well as the 2014-2015 gen 3 RX when the current RX came out in 2016.
I live in an area with lots of RX. The 5th generation RX is out and it is very similar to gen. 4. It has some changes to the lights in front and back and a little changes to the body appearance.

It's more than likely it's the mid cycle refresh of the 4th gen (starting from 2020 model onwards) that you have seen.
There has been absolutely no news on the 5RX yet. Lexus won't let anything out until the 2nd gen NX is released this fall; then typically we might start to see some 5RX teases early next year.
Just saw this. When I click on it it redirects me to yahoo USA with a message saying Yahoo autos of Taiwan does not service Europe and USA region so I cropped a screen shot
It would be interesting to see what direction Lexus will take for the 5th generation RX. The 2nd generation NX looked quite similar to the first so I wonder if Lexus would do the same for the RX.
When the 2015 NX came out, there were several similar styling elements that carried over to the 2016 RX (exterior mirrors, the black plastic cladding, the lip on the front bumper on F-Sports, roof rails, etc) so I'm sure the 2022 NX will give us some clues to the 2023 RX.
Or it could be an all new and improved EV RX 350
Or at least a PHEV... which would be even better than EV.
Oh wait, that would still require a gas door...

I suspect the plug in may be an option when the model is finally debuted.
