This is not true. There are quite a few "plug in hybrids" now in the US. They usually have bigger battery banks that can be charged by plugging into electricity and can then run longer on the electric motors before the gas engine takes over for continued charging. They can be considered in between a typical hybrid and a fully electric car.

I believe Cocal was referencing the current (2022) and prior year Lexus vehicles.

Question 2023 fixed design

Here's what the new design should look like.

In all other things it's perfect.

What do you say, am I right?

No. Grille is ugly.

Grill is okay, but the bulge is not. It's seriously overcompensating especially as they went from V6 to I4. It's not like that bulge is hiding needed engine space. The RX already had a big nose.

I don't really mind the grill and actually I like it better since it's a little smaller. The part I'm not a fan of is the space (gap) between the hood and grill trim.
They should have extended the hood to meet the grill. Beside that I would get use to it like the current grill design. The most important question is the test drive with the new engine.

Well, I can't just easily "fix" this in photoshop, but in real 3d design or running from someone like TRD, they could remove that part.

I also suspect that Lexus will do this themselves, as they left this part easily corrected.. you can see it in the cuts in the design, as if it implies a possible replacement in that place.

aside from the front it pretty much looks identical to the outgoing 4th gen. it's really not that bad. The powertrains are exciting for this segment though.

I guess they didn't want to mess with a successful model that sells 100K+ units every year. Very little exterior change from 4GEN.

It looks like you'd need to get a new front bumper to me.

Here's my effort to fix it in photoshop:

I don't know exactly what it is, but the original version in the above pic looks better in the side view than the shorter nose version- at least to me. Guess I'll have to wait & see in person.

imho, the biggest problem with the nose is the huge front overhang makes the whole nose disproportionately "heavy" and unbalanced. The beak by itself would be fine if the front wheels were pushed a couple more inches forward, to give it a more RWD look. Maybe someone with better photoshop skills can show what I mean.
