That's surprising - I thought it was one of the more popular colors.

It is my understanding the Atomic Silver color has been known as Iridium in other countries for some years now. Perhaps this is just a “name change” for the North American market?

From a previous IS brochure, it appear that Atomic Silver is a brighter version of silver compared to Iridium.

Maybe something to do with HP and torque requirements of the trannys.
The eight-speed transmission has a reputation for jerky shifting, indecisiveness and hesitation. You could see going to a 6-speed tranny as an upgrade. It may even produce some weight savings.

Specific to the RX500h, the electric motors will smooth out the torque delivery. Hopefully as butter smooth as the 450h.

That's unfortunately if they really replacing the Atomic Silver with Iridium. The Iridium is a lot like any other Silver color out there.

The eight speed tranny was confirmed earlier. No way they'd go backwards like that given CAFE pressures.

The RX450h+ trim level is a PHEV. It’ll likely share the same drivetrain as the RAV4 Prime & NX450h+. Unless I’m missing something it was announced to be a thing.

Ok, I went through this long thread, but some things still aren't clear to me:

1. What will be the base engine? Will it require premium gasoline? (I think this will be a deal-breaker for me. I don't believe that the extra MPGs of a 4cyl-Turbo truly be much better than the old six cylinder, on 87 octane, IN THE REAL WORLD)

2. Exactly when will the 2023 Lexus RX350 be on dealer lots, or ready for order to be delivered upon arrival?

From what I read on their site the base engine will be the 4 cylinder Turbo. That engine is premium only in NX, so it would be a guess that RX follows suit.
For me, the most logical engine would be the 350h which is identical to the setup in Highlander. That has been made for over 3 years now with many positive feedbacks.

As for timing I read that it will be at dealers end of this year, but you should be able to order now.

I'm also interested in the RXh but didn't want to run premium as at today's prices would seem to negate any savings-around here premium can be close to $1 more per gallon. I checked the '22 NX online handbook and it states that 91 octane is recommended but 87 is the minimum, so it seems that regular may be OK to use if the RX uses the same hybrid setup.
