5th gen RX merged rumor and launch threads

My brother has a 3.0 Q7. He had taken it in for service and was given a 2.0 Q7 as a loaner. He said it was fine with just him but he had to do some moving of equipment and the loaner bogged down and chugged premium like it was water. With his car he saw virtually no discernable difference in performance or gas mileage when doing the same thing. This would be my worry as when you do a test drive usually it's just you or a couple of people in the vehicle. I also use mine for volunteer work which depending on what I am doing can add significant weight to the vehicle.

We're talking differences of a second - maybe two at most. 2 frickin' seconds. That's a 'deal breaker'. Oh no, a 4 cylinder Rx will be 8.3 seconds instead of 7.0 with the V6!! Virtually imperceptible even on the very rare occasions when anyone drives an NX or RX like an RC or Corvette (which is never). Time for a reality check over this ridiculousness.

Where did I say anything about driving it like a race car? I see people complaining about 2.0T and I wonder if that is a valid complaint or just speculating. Where did I say one should go buy a German 2.0T? All I was saying is 2.0T is not bad, and it's actually faster/ more responsive more so than what's in the RX now. If you like the RX, why don't you think Lexus knows what you like about it? Do you think they would put something in there that would compromise the reasons you're interested in the RX?

Just popped up
The hybrid powertrains in the RX lineup will come in three flavors, according to the report. A new RX500h range-topper is said to be replacing the current RX450h. It will be a PHEV, pairing the turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with an electric motor.
An RX450h+ will follow in the range, which will use a normally aspirated 2.5-liter power plant and an electric motor, powered by a lithium-ion battery. The base hybrid is said to be called the RX350h, in the same vein as the new NX350h. It will also be powered by a 2.5-liter mill and an electric motor.

Unless RX has platform change, I don't think they can use the engine from LC500h

I really doubt that the RX500h will be a plug-in PHEV. That would be left to the RX450h+, which will share the drivetrain with the new '22 NX PHEV.
Look to the upcoming Tundra hybrid for clues as to what the RX500h will be - a turbocharged V6 + regular hybrid drivetrain that will make somewhere around 400hp. That's what I suspect.

New Lexus RX 350 owner-in a few weeks-
It seems that last few generations have lasted about 5 years or so of production. If my calculations and assumptions are correct, that means we should be seeing the 6th gen RX around 2021.
It maybe a little early for 6th gen discussion but just curious to know if anybody is interested in seeing a plug-in hybrid for the 6th gen? It seems like Toyota/Lexus was leading the way with hybrid tech and with the Prius has lead to the general market adopting this technology but it seems that hybrid tech is no longer "special" and just "normal" tech no where nobody really even talks about it. Full electric is the current talk of the town and fuel cell is having a very hard time gaining any kind of traction. Diesel is dying out at least in the US for passenger vehicles mainly due to VW Dieselgate with MB and BMW withdrawing their diesel vehicles and it doesn't appear that Toyota will bring any of their foreign diesel engines for our domestic truck/suv applications.
I don't see the Lexus vehicles as they currently stand to go pure electric as a variation of current models so wondering what's next for Lexus. They don't have a plug-in hybrid except for Toyota with the Pruis but that isn't selling too well.
With some states mandating that new homes be built with solar panels and this making it easier for people to upgrade their electric systems to include home batteries, do you think the RX or any future Lexus/Toyota will turn to plug-in hybrid tech like the plug-in Prius? I think if Lexus builds in on their platform first and sells it as a "premium" offering, that might get people to adopt the trend more readily. I'd be curious to see a plug-in hybrid.

Mine is a 2022 Lexus RX 350 Pearl Essence White, with Parchment Leather Interior.
I'm not sure if it is the "Luxury" or "Premium" edition. It has the 20" wheels, Mark Levenson Sound System. 12" Screen.
I have owned Toyota's for many years. I decided to step up to a Lexus RX 350 Gas engine because there are NO local repair shops that are familiar with a Lexus.
Did I make the right decision ?
