Yesterday, went to the dealership near me (Longo Lexus, El Monte) to pick up some parts, and saw they had lots of cars (mostly NX's)...

Indeed, from what I see - the NX isn't selling well. Too expensive for what you get, the buyer in that segment has a lot of lower cost choices.

Maybe when Toyota makes them. I have a 4 cylinder turbo 2018 Audi A5 and the engine is smoother and quieter than the V6 in my 22 RX 350! Toyota seems very incompetent at muting engine noises. If the new model is even noisier than my V6, they will never see another dollar from me. I’m already pissed at the V-6 for the groaning droning and vibrations around 1600 RPM.

In my '15 RX, even the non-ML "premium" audio sounds pretty good.
I’m really disappointed with the middle grade audio in my 22 RX 350. It’s one of the lowest Fidelity systems I’ve had on a car in a long time. My last car was a highlander with JBL audio and it blew this thing away for sound quality. And even my previous Highlander with the standard system sounded better.

Dealers who are still asking for market adjustments have not yet gotten the message that car inventory is going up and people now have options. Just say no.

My daughter has an 18 Q5 and I will say that 4 cyl is smooth and pretty quiet.

According to Scotty Kilmer, turbo engine also wears out faster. Does this mean that the more reliable and super long life of RX is now gone? Thoughts? Thanks!

Say it's not so, the all knowing automotive guru Scotty Kilmer doesn't like something?

Consumer Reports has had the NX (which I believe has been a Turbo all along) rated as 5 out of 5 for reliability since 2015, so maybe Scotty is wrong?

I find Scotty more entertaining than useful. I do my own research (thanks to forums like this) and beware misinformation on the internets.

In my opinion, in a direct injection engine, carbon buildup in the cylinder head is a lot bigger threat to engine longevity than wear and tear in the bottom end, turbo or no turbo. I put 170K miles on a VW 1.8T engine many years back, no issues.

According to Motor Trend, the NX350 Turbo engine is Port and Direct injected, doesn't that virtually eliminate the carbon buildup you reference as a threat to engine longevity?

It should, yes, but you wonder if any higher miles examples have had the cylinder head examined.

Not all turbocharged 4 cylinders are created equal.
The engines from RS3, Golf R/GTi, RDX and Accord are extremely quiet and way more refined than the '23 RX.

Although it does not have the same power and luxury of an RX, the Nissan Rogue 4-cylinder engine is smoother, IMO.

I decided to watch the youtube review after test driving, and almost everything I noticed about it, was the same things he said on the video.
For an engine at that price point and market, the engine is at most basic.

That's why my '15 RX will be my last Lexus / Toyota product.
I have test driven '23 RX and NX and came away unimpressed.

Longer term I don't know. But. so far, this is my best RX yet. (Had '09, '14, '15, '16. '17, '20 and now '23)
