Default Got A VIN - Now What?

After some kerfuffle, the dealer called and said the 350h is on the way. He gave me the VIN but there seems to be no way to track its production sing it. Dealer claims sometime in the next two or three weeks it will show up. Any thoughts?

The real VIN, or the "placeholder" VIN for the build spec? The placeholder VIN will never show up on the transport tracker (assuming Canada works like the US) - the dealer will have to get you the real VIN once the car is actually manufactured.

The real VIN I think - it decodes correctly.

Does the toyota tracker cover Canada? The car has to get onto a truck first for it to work. But since the factory is in Canada, it should be a short transportation segment I would think, so maybe it never appears there and will just show up at the dealer one day.

The VIN of our RX350 never did show up on the Toyota Tracker site but the car arrived about the time the dealer said it was due.

It is a long way from the factory to the west coast.

yeah, we were informed that the dealer was notified that the car was to be built, and then it arrived about a week later (in New England, not far).

Again this is the best tool for North East -

If anyone has RX coming from CA plant to North East, this is trucking company that moves them https://www.cassens.com/#/vin-tracking all you do is go to website enter your vin with dealer code to see it status to dealer.
Going into dealer receipts you can also search prior and upcoming loads to your particular dealer.

Seems like the dealers up here can't track them either. Or won't say. But they will ask for $60K.

Default When will RX hybrid availability improve?

I understand the covid supply chain disruptions from 2020-22 but in three months it's going to be 2024 and Lexus hybrids are still impossible to find. The dealers are still telling me to put down a several thousand dollar deposit and to wait at least 3 months (probably more) with no certainty of delivery date. Nearly every other car maker has been able to return inventory levels to something close to pre-covid (maybe not exactly the same, but reasonable). Does Lexus just not care about selling RX hybrids? Would they rather customers give up buy a different brand?

We put down $1000 in January. We were told 6-9 months. They were right. Part of the issue is that they are selling like hotcakes; not sure about the supply chain issues now.

It's not COVID, the build plan for the RX placed the 350h at 17% of production. That's way too low. The 500h was 10% of production, which is too high. The gas 350 is the rest. It takes a long time to adjust the production line parts supplies to shift the 350h number higher.

I see a few in stock (not in transit) at dealers near me but certainly not much of a selection.

Yeah. Lexus should have just not had a gas-only version, imo. The Hybrids are better. With 350h, 450h, and 500h in the lineup they've got something for everyone. The plain-jane 350 isn't necessary.

Default RX 350 Already Made and Still Sitting In A Rail Car

Does anyone have any idea why an RX350h that was made at the first of May would still be sitting on a rail car somewhere between Ontario and the United States and not showing any signs of moving?
