Is he keeping that list up to date? One thing I have learned through my (hopefully soon to be completed) purchase experience, is that the Lexus dealer allocation strategy is a mess, especially for colors and trim levels. 500h now $2k off MSRP at some dealers? While I bet at other dealers, customers are sitting with deposits on them at MSRP (or above?) and can't get cars allocated to their dealer of choice, while other dealers have uncommitted 500h's now and are selling them for below MSRP? Crazy, but its inline with what I have learned - the bigger dealers get the most allocations whether or not the smaller dealers have firm customers waiting at them for cars.

I didn't know that.

$400 is miniscule compared to the inflation rate, transportation and component price increases. I am guessing Toyota is absorbing some of those price increases

8% off sounds very good. My dad had three "last cars" (all Lexuses) between your age and his death 16 years later.

RX350h Premium+ Iridium / Birch.
Initiated my search around mid-April. Initially, I mistakenly lumped the hybrids with the regular gas versions in terms of availability and discount. Quickly realized I was wrong and should have started my search earlier. About two months prior I had spot checked the various dealerships in SoCal and saw plenty of inventory but didn't realize the majority of them were in-transit and already pre-sold.
Contacted most of the dealerships in SoCal based on what was recommended on Reddit, Leasehackr and a few other areas. Think my initial list was Longo, Keyes, Glendale, Thousand Oaks and Mission Viejo (South County). I also reached out to six brokers including our forum sponsor AutoCompaion but didn't want to deal with shipping. Eventually expanded to include almost all the dealerships in SoCal other than Tustin, Newport, and one or two other badly reviewed ones.
Continued the conversation with a few and ultimately got the sense that even if the dealership was willing to help, they were stifled by Toyota's allocation process. Finally found the Reddit thread where Johny5 posted his Toyota/Lexus allocation spreadsheets and within a day or two of filtering through the RX list, found an in-transit unit to Woodland Hills in our preferred trim/color choice that wasn't pre-sold.
Exchanged a few emails with Nikolay, got him to quickly remove any markups and put in a deposit the same day. Two weeks later, I started hearing from other dealerships over the weekend of two different white units that customers had backed out of. Considered them momentarily but decided to stick with our deposit. Interestingly enough, around when the Toyota Tracker lost all updates for our VIN was probably when the train had arrived. I'm also assuming that the white units from the other dealerships were on the same train but got unloaded earlier. That following week, Nikolay gave me a call on Friday morning telling me the car was at their dealership. Drove the two hours in traffic to the dealership and 2.5 hours back. Nikolay and Shayan the F&I manager made it relatively painless.
Anyway, was pretty happy with them, no B$, no games. Got the deal done in a pretty straightforward manner. Wish they were closer for service but will likely just bring the car to South County in Mission Viejo.
For folks currently looking, I think it's relatively easy to get a dealership to remove any markups from the hybrid units. Literally just took a few email exchanges at each of the dealerships I was in communication with. They'll try to still apply it to in-transit units but keep looking. And definitely make use of Johny_5's allocation spreadsheets and buy him a coffee. I wish we had a similar tool for all the other brands!
