OK, the selling price of the car is good - $5K off MSRP. Your money factor is a 6.576% interest rate which seems fair (always room to haggle on that, but when you can get 5.4% on a CD, it doesn't look too bad). Residual is good (are you sure you are OK with 7500 miles?).

Not sure what your sales tax rate is, I used 8%. My lease calculator actually came back with $832.90 for this deal, so $799 is fair.

I assume that’s 7,500 miles a year? That’s still low.

I drive about 5,000 miles a year. My other car is from 2013 and has only 55,000 miles.

Default Potential new Lexus owner

We negotiated a price and put a deposit down on 350h premium+ today. It’s for an existing dealer allocation. We’re told it will be built mid-July and delivered about 30 days later. This will be our first Lexus. We’ve owned Audi, Acura, BMW, but never lexus. I have a few questions.

1. Does thirty days from build date seem accurate? Will it be a 2023 or 2024? Seems like tail end 2023 is most likely, but no VIN yet.
2. How is the gas mileage? Our other car is electric and I struggled over going fully electric or getting a hybrid. The mpg on the 350h swayed me. Is it real?
3. for those that can compare, how is 350h compared to mdx, x5, gle, gv80?
4. how much of a deposit is usually expected. I put down several thousand, but my understanding is that these cars are sold before they arrive at the dealer. Is that true?
5. Is premium plus, plus some extra options (panoramic roof, 21 wheels, etc) a good spec?
6. Are Lexus cheaper to service/ repair than German competitors? I love my Audi but couldn’t imagine paying out of warranty prices.

thanks.

1. Yes 30 days sounds right and will almost surely be a 2023. No announcement has been made yet 24 changes

4. My dealer required no deposit. They’re all a little different.

5. we ended up with a luxury trim because it was the quickest way for us to get triple beam leds and ML stereo. We’d have preferred premium+

Yes they are cheaper to service than the Germans. Yes the 350h mileage is good. A lot of other threads here on the various points you mention, scan around and read them. The Luxury spec has different seats, and tend to also bundle more premium options like the ML audio and LED lights into those builds, if those things are important to you. Otherwise the Premium+ is fine.

Audi's have notoriously bad cooling systems (water pumps, etc), and carbon build up on their engine as the miles roll up.

Lexus has been ranked #1 in dependability by J D Power 23 out of the last 28 years. They rank Lexus service department#1 in customer satisfaction. Consumer Reports ranks Lexus #2 in reliability behind Toyota. On our sixth Lexus and have not had one problem with any. I spend about $400 every three years in service. The 5,000 and 10,000 mile service is free. Lexus is the second lowest in maintenance cost among the luxury brands only behind Tesla.

I wouldn't get one without panoramic camera. May be harder to find. Some of us had to go Luxury to get it, but there may be some premium plus versions.

I love my current Audi etron. Best car I’ve ever owned and it’s not even close (again, never owned a Lexus). I have an 8 year wrap around warranty, so I feel a bit secure but probably won’t keep it past the warranty coverage. I’ve never owned an Audi ICE.

I put the deposit on the rx350h to replace my 8 year old gas SUV. I think the 350h will be a perfect road trip car for us, but the etron is actually great for road-tripping, as far as evs go.

if Honda/Acura made a hybrid, I’d be looking in that direction. But they don’t and I hate going to the gas station, so the 36mpg seems hard to pass up.

thanks for the feed back. Looking forward to taking delivery in a month or two.

Default 8% off MSRP?

Hi all, I’m planning on buying a new RX 350 soon. Does 8% off MSRP sound right? Your insights are appreciated!
