Toyota is not happy about it. It's going to cost them a lot of money to deliver and program the second key. The dealerships will have to be paid to program and deliver it.

This will probably cost Toyota to have a Chip on their shoulder heading into 2024.

Seeing the lack of attention to customer satisfaction from the automakers during this time, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them try and walk away from supplying the second fob - just delay, delay, delay and basically tell the customer "sue me" if you want your second FOB. I have never seen an industry, en masse, just completely push customer satisfaction off to the side. Very similar to the airline industry - their attitude seems to be, "if we all stink, you won't be able to go anywhere to get better service, so we don't care".

Naah. If they do that the class action lawyers will give them more grief than just supplying the FOBs. But I agree about the desire to create customer satisfaction being a thing of the past.

Customer service is becoming an anachronism.

Interesting that you can get 2022 Lexus fobs. https://www.locksmithkeyless.com/en-...-hyq14flb-3950 What is the FCC/ICC ID on the current ones?

Would the dealer even program a non-OEM FOB? Maybe alibaba sells the 2023 FOB?

Well, someone with alot more key fob tech specifics would have to determine whether something like this would work:

MMA relates to warranty not being voided by using aftermarket parts. I don’t recall a provision saying they’re required to do elective work on your car to integrate aftermarket parts though.

Most dealers would probably be more than happy to take your money and try to program it. If it fails, they’ll still expect to be paid.

I’d happily bet the farm and my first born this isn’t the case.

Dealer service departments love customer pay work. That’s where their real income is at. You’re not going to hurt the car trying to program a key.
