I'm not really worried about what Dealers are promising NOW. What I am worried about is the sticker on my RX, purchased in Nov 22, which clearly stated I would receive my 2nd key within a month. Toyota/Lexus knew at the time they were not going to be able to honor that promise. They intentionally deceived their Customers. Toyota, Lexus and even my dealer "ghosted" me when I started making inquiries. I finally got a letter, saying I MIGHT get a 2nd key fob in September.I received the letter after I wrote to my State's Consumer Affairs Bureau and my Congressperson. I have zero confidence that I will receive my 2nd Fob, in September.

So I picked up my car today - just one FOB, but they do give you the 2nd mechanical key at delivery. To be inserted into fob#2. I know how to unlock the car with the mechanical key, but you can't start the car with it - correct? So its of limited use, still they give it to you at delivery.

‘’They give the extra mechanical key at delivery. This save them from having to keep track of the key and having any security issues. Sounds logical to me.

In a usual world, you’d have a big case. In the world of well known chip shortages, no regulator or court is likely to do much more than shrug and feel your pain. Lexus should throw in a free service (a real service with an oil change) or some similar goodwill gesture. But in the real world, most will deem “rich new Lexus buyers’” crying about a missing key as a laughable first world problem.
I don't believe you can classify RX owners as "rich." Compare the price of an RX to a new Tundra, F-150, or any truck. How about Cadillac, Yukons, etc?

I disagree. In a world of chip shortages, everything from smart TVs, Microwaves and other automobiles, continue to be sent to market. All use a variety of chips. Toyota, failed to maintain an adequate supply of chips, to meet future demand. I understand the economics of "Just In Time Inventory," but that can bite you when one fails to look ahead for possible interruptions.

The average American doesn’t have $500 for an emergency. While you are right that many hulking trucks cost more, the average American on a jury against Lexus thinks “rich person’s silly problem”.

Unless there is a reason it can’t be done, I’d go to Batteries Plus and have a key made. I don’t think having 1 key is a rich person’s problem.
