I don’t know where the physical key inserts to get into the 2023RX.

I’m sure it’s in the manual. Again, probably the end of the unmovable door handle.
Just like the dead battery exit from the inside, there has to be a place.

Thanks. You’d think that Lexus would come up with something more substantial than having to insert a credit card to pry open the key hole cap! 🙄🤣

For what it’s worth, Googling around articles, it seems that wrapping the FOB in aluminum foil doesn’t really block the signal.

You can get a Faraday bag for it on amazon, people even use them to store their fobs when in their house to prevent battery drainage on their cars when its in constant contact with the fob. Porsche is notorious for this.

Some people have reported they got the digital key to work with IOS 16 - did you try deleting the app entirely and reinstalling in on IOS 16? I had to do this with a weather app I use - upgraded to 16, the previously installed app would not work properly, I had to delete and re-install it. It's worth trying.

I've been using 16.2 all along but now I see there is a 16.3. I will download that and then do what you suggest.

EDIT: Did all that. It now gets stuck even sooner. Can’t Bluetooth connect with the car for Digital Key.

Another finding in our Subaru: if the FOB is anywhere inside the car, even in the very rear, there is no way to lock the doors from the inside or outside. And the car will start, again, even if the FOB is in the way back. Assuming Lexus is the same (can’t test because there’s only 1 FOB and I don’t wanna futz with the mechanical key), I don’t see how to securely lock and hide a fob in the car and make the car unable to be started. I guess the Faraday container might work, but beyond that…

Have they told you when to expect the other key?

They told me April. But I don’t have a lot of confidence in that. We got the car December 1

I also took delivery end of December, promissory note for second key but dealer could not provide ETA, patiently waiting…

I was told they would program it “at the 5000 mile service”. So that implies May-ish.

Default Further Update on Disabling a Key Fob

Further update: simply wrapping the FOB in aluminum foil disables the fob, both inside and outside the vehicle. I did this myself and this is the case.

I also put the fob inside a small All-Clad cooking pot and it, too, disables the fob. I'm guessing that there is some smaller, cheaper metal case for this if the aluminum foil trick seems chintzy. (Although the key can be more easily hidden inside the car wrapped in aluminum versus in a container.)

So back to the Digital Key issue. Where does it stand? Is there anyone here who has the digital key and it works? And for those of us for whom it does not work, is there some sort of process that Lexus has announced to let us know where we stand as to how long to expect this to be an issue? I'm ok letting them figure this new tech out, but it seems like right now we're just getting fuzzy individual information about the overall resolution process.

For those having issues with their digital key, I'm happy to report that I called Lexus for tech assistance. They were fabulous to work with and my digital key is now working with my iPhone 12 iOS 16.x. They had to clear something on the back end and all is well now.
