Pictures of install? Or pics of product from underneath? Sounds cool. Regarding other comments on the drawtite: imo I could cate less about seeing the receiver… but the actual drawbar- no way.
I use the hitch for towing and it will see loads. Stainless steel has inferior mechanical properties than carbon steel for this application. The rust can be painted, a broken hitch while towing a trailer could cause a disaster though.
Guess you have never seen a stainless steel boat trailer then? Or a stainless trailer ball? I've been using SS in high-stress places for ages - not a single failure. Maybe if steel hitches were galvanized then painted/coated they would last. But I am tired of the rust.
2023 RX350h
I was a pre order for a Torklift Stainless steel hitch.
Received it and installed it myself.
Good news:
no cutting or trimming needed.
kick sensor still works. Had to temporarily remove to get the hitch in place but the sensor went back into its orginal location.
Receiver is detachable and you can't view any of the hitch from behind.
Bad news:
Install was awkward and heavy to do by one person. Took me twice as long as it could have with another person.
Instructions and picture examples could have been a bit clearer. I will give them a pass since this was a very recent new model.
Overall:
Excellent product
Excellent quality
Glad I waited
Yeah, it's a 3 piece hitch and I just connected one side first and used a jack to hold it in place while I bolted on the other side.
Torklift Photos and Color installation manual for 2023 RX350h
I installed the Torklift hitch on my 2023 RX350h last week. The cross bar fits perfectly under the bumper cover. As others mentioned, I used a jack stand to hold up the cross bar due to its weight. I needed to use fish wires to install several bolts that attach the cross bar to the mounting plates. (these were not supplied with the kit) Overall, a very well designed and manufactured hitch.
I called Torklift because the installation manual was poorly printed and they sent me a color version. (attached). Also, I didn't feel it was necessary to remove the kick sensor...just was careful not to wack it when installing the cross bar. Cross bar under the bumper cover. The mount for the receiver is perfectly flush with the bottom of the bumper cover One of the mounting plates. The cutouts in the plate allow ample clearance for installing the plate The receiver is very rugged Hitch with receiver removed Hitch with receiver in place
no[e, they don’t. I called and spoke with them about this last week…. It’s a generic product and requires you to cut/splice the factory wiring. No thanks!
